My first map for that game, it's not that hard. It's the kind of puzzle you can find in the game. ==V1.1.1== Fixed some shortcut

This map was okay, nothing super special about it, but an okay portal-centric gel map.
I wish you had extended the platform to be a bit longer, because the last jump can be quite a pain as you cannot run at full speed through the portal to make that jump; instead you die.
Erm, what's the intended solution? I feel like I may have done it in the wrong way. Was tedious.
Couple of things:
1. You map looks good except for a complete lack of cubemaps. CUBEMAPS, CUBEMAPS, CUBEMAPS. Please use them.
http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Cubemaps
2. For some reason the starting elevator only works the first time I load the map; each time I load it after that the elevator refuses to move. I can only get it to work by restarting the game.
3. The main solution to this puzzle was taking quite a while to execute so I found a ninja solution instead which allowed me to complete the chamber in about 20-25 seconds from the moment I first stepped in to reaching the elevator. If you like, I'll upload a video to youtube of what I did. I'm not sure if you want to leave this in to keep the chamber more open or fix it up to make your solution the only one that works.
Other than that, nice work; I hope to see more stuff from you
Regarding elevators:
The starting elevator usually doesn't work if you tab out while it's loading. I do that a lot, and it doesn't work a lot. xD I dunno about other circumstances.
The ending elevator goes to the top and then vanishes, after which the player falls back down onto the roof of another elevator that spawns, and so on and so forth repeatedly. Namely- The screen doesn't end the map.
I enjoyed this map; thanks for making it. However, like Thursaz & cajuncook, I am wondering if the tedious solution is intended solution, including the trial-and-error jumping from the shortened ramp.
Thanks for your replies everyone.
I'm sorry i'm not verry familiar with cubemap yet but promise i'll work on that.
And I'll be happy to see your solution, I tried to fix the map as much as I could to prevent people to solve it without the normal solution.
I don't know if I correctly understand your problems but for the jump you have to put the orange paint all over the black ground between the pannel and the window and blu paint in the front of the pannel so you can jump at high speed through a portal where is the emencipation gride and reach the funnel safely, you can fail if you have missplaced the portal near the paint (you can hit the edge of the portal and slow down) or if you jumped through it amiss (you can hit a dropper).
I didn't want to make it so long to solve with paint but when i put this idea of puzzle on paper i didn't think about how much paint the player could carry at one time with the funnel, usually the player can carry a lot of it in the game when there's funnel involved, he don't have to paint "blob by blob". That's a mistake I will not make again promise, that's my first map for a portal game (did some for others source mod through)I have never made a puzzle of my life before that, excuse me for all of those errors.
I'll try to do better next time !
Ah, so it is the intended solution. Well, regardless, it's a good map for your first. You learn as you map, so as long as you take critique positively, you'll improve. Good work- I'll look forward to seeing the next map from you.
Wow, I through that was fixed long ago, and now i understand the problem with the light, that's not so "white" on my computer, I'll try to fix all of that quickly.
Thanks for everything.
EDIT: Ok I've completly forgot to do the "buildcubemap" thing, that's why it's so white --"
EDIT 2: There it is, I fixed the shortcut and the cubemaps, there should be no more problem of that kind now (I hope
)
I did it like this, but I couldn't shake the feeling the puzzle had something wrong:

The feeling that it would work much better in coop. Other than that, it's a cute map with a somewhat loose puzzle.
You did well. I enjoy playing any map. No matter how tedious!!!!!! Painting was almost like 1 blob at a time...
Quite a good map. But actually i completed it without orange gel...think about it. One more thing...use cubes, and some acrobatics.
Thanks.
Okay if everything is fine, I fixed the shortcuts, no more finish without orange gel, etc.
If someone see another shortcut, please tell me, I'll try to correct it.
Thanks a lot everyone.
I was stumped too...or rather I thought I was. Turns out the one solution I could think of, but rejected due to it being too tedious and repetitive was the intended solution as I found out while reading this thread after giving up. I went back and finished it because I didn't want to give feedback without at least trying it again.
I think it was a good idea, but it just doesn't work well enough for it to be fun, or maybe it could have been executed differently. I think what really got to me was the combination of having to:
route the goo through the funnels so many times along with having to walk back and forth across the map just as many times to place the portals for the funnels. If I could have just stood in front of the button and placed all the portals to route the funnel it would have been a lot less tiresome.
I also found the final jump to be overly difficult. I had to die in the toxic water a few times to figure out where to put the portal at the end of the goo. I suggest changing the surface at the end of the goo-runway so it is only as tall as a portal and is already at the correct height for jumping into, or at least put a target at the center of where the portal should go there. Then again, different people may paint that area slightly differently leading to problems with that...
Even though this puzzle didn't work so well I thought the map looked pretty good, not great, but for a first map it did the job.
I did like the wall of glass at the far end of where the goo goes. Without that visual cue I probably wouldn't have thought of anyway to solve the puzzle.
One other thing that I think could help this map, or help with a map like it in the future, is a button(or a few at various locations) to stand on that reverses the flow of the funnel. That way it pulls the goo back into the pre-portal part of the funnel, then you can move the portal to extend the funnel from a new place and get off the button to push all the goo down a new direction. It would be similar to the last test chamber in Portal 2, but you could expand on that puzzle mechanic.
is that even possible right now? Cuz I have no idea how to transfer the gel to the place I need
I'm playing custom maps and record my first time of playing them. So the run is not perfect and may not use only intended ways, but maybe it can let you see how other people may understand the map or you could just enjoy someone playing this map for entertainment.
Anyways, here is the recording:

No.
No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No.
No.
I am not painting a whole runway one drop at a time like this.
Come back when you make a real test.
1/5 for the map who's only creative element was the anti-shortcuts.
