Nicely constructed, but I felt lost some of the time. I think I made it through by sheer luck.

I was searching around for some way to get the cube over, then realized I didn't even need it as I completed the map with it left behind. Didn't activate that switch with it.

One really annoying thing:

Perhaps I was doing something wrong, but this just seemed like luck when I could make the jump to reach the painted blue walls and bounce up. By then, the timer had run out and I had to start all over. Finally just noclipped to the next step.

That's a LOT of faith plates in the exit sequence. I recall someone mentioning on another map that the 5 they had seemed like too many. You seem to have more than that.

I don't think you did the gel chamber as intended if you ran out of time. There are 4 places to put blue gel. Think with portals. I'm not sure which switch you didn't activate? Please elaborate.

On thinking it through, you're correct. I probably should have: placed the 2nd portal only after bouncing up speed between the 2 surfaces. I tried everything but... my fault.

Meant to say button, not switch. I was looking for a way to get the cube to the "chute", but couldn't see any. Instead, I found an outside portable surface and the next thing I knew I was landing on a metal walkway. Like I said, I think I made it through with a bit of luck.

I would like details on how you got around the first chamber.

edit- Nevermind I know how you did it. I'll fix the texture and update tomorrow.

Great map!
And those who say they can not, they just have not found a solution. The only drawback - it's a long name.

Thank you! Played with pleasure!

nice map... I searched for like half an hour how to get the cube to the other side, that's a big thumbs up!
I liked the style of the map, really felt like an official portal 2 map. The 1950's faithplates are nicely done as well, however I found a few errors:

Once my cube got stuck in the cube dropping-column:
if you want to see a screenshot: http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/57780 ... DAC53F05E/ (sorry, image is too big to upload) (1366x768)

The faithplate where you are catapulted on has a very small no-air-control time, I managed to escape and land on the roof, gently walked to the place where I had to go and placed a portal, walked back and got myself launched in the other portal so I could continue. not sure if this was intended.

Lastly I think the timing for the last two portals is a bit too tight =/ I crashed myself 5 times to death and then I felt like whatever, I finished the map, let's noclip to the end.

Besides those points; great map!

I enjoyed using the gel for momentum. This is a really well put together map!

This map is beautiful. The aesthetics are great, the puzzles are unique, and it's rather fun.

I didn't have much trouble figuring things out, the first puzzle was a bit troublesome, butin a good way (it made me think.)

I couple of things I noticed however:

This probably shouldn't be a portal-able surface - http://imgur.com/y3DuQ

Also, I found a 'cheater's solution' of sorts in the gel room, here's the demo file:

Good work, great concept, wonderful map.

I agree. Map looks great, and figuring out how to get the cube on the button was pretty good, but the rest of the puzzle was very clear what to do.

Excellent map, I didn't look for cheat methods and think I used all the intended solutions (used everything which worked fine). Enjoyed it. Thanks much for creating.

Quality map for Old Aperture, charming at times but flawed. Don't get me wrong, it's all good but the devil is in the details.

Take the first puzzle: both brilliant (the slope) and uninspired (sniping while flinging, behind a grate). Afterwards, things quite go on autopilot which is a pity. Also worth mentioning that the gel controls might be... excessive in a test room. I would still work on adding more "game" to it.

Bug: close to the first catapult you can take, is a grate with a portable yellow wall behind.

Same, no portal gun?!!

You're not given a gun? First time I've seen that since you start standing on a gun. You actually get 2 guns (1 you spawn on, and then the global_ents upgrade to a potatogun as the entry elevator starts moving. I think you guys may want to verify integrity of game files.

So I'm assuming I wasn't supposed to spawn without a portal gun...

Edit: Apparently if you change the name of the .bsp you don't get a portal gun. Changed the name back to original and it's working fine.

Why would you change the name of the bsp?

Making my reply before reading everyone else's. Then will go back and edit if need be.

Let me say I REALLY loved this map. It was beautiful, well put together, and FUN! It had some neat ideas, and wasn't overly hard, or complicated. Even had some LOLDOH! Moments (Like when I tried to grab the cube out of the air, and instead it stopped me and we both plummeted to our deaths lol).

The rest of what I have to say will be in a spoiler tag for obvious reasons:

First thing I noticed was it is possible to get stuck in atleast one area, I took a screen shot here http://steamcommunity.com/id/rellikpd/screenshot/595815243027694996. The area I'm standing in is just behind the area that drops the cube. You get here by: There is an area that has a catapult, and you're supposed to put a portal on the angled panel, and the flat panel (while flying through the air), and by doing this you will go through the floor above you, and the door shuts. Well I was (purposely) trying to break the map, and look for exploits/bugs. and I found that you can simply walk off, land on the area below/behind the box dropper, and have no way back/out unless you load an earlier save, or jump into the acid.

Final Note: I FREAKING LOVED! the final catapult-flinging sequence, it had all the fun of complex/long flings, without having to over think too much (until near the end) so you could just sorta sit back and enjoy the ride (until near the end).

EDIT2: Also, I loved the idea of a semi-Terminal Velocity setup (like you see in coop maps) but that you are able to do yourself using the blue paint! Not sure if this was the entirely intended solution, but i had fun with it none-the-less!

Loved it. And would have liked to seen this get an honorable mention.

edit: there are also some clipping issues regarding the "hand rails" throughout. In some areas you can use the cube to jump over the rails, and in other places you can't. In some cases i understand why, because it would just be to easy to exploit the map... But if it looks like you can jump over something, you should be able to. or make it so they can't take the cube into those areas.

Glad to see how much you liked it. As for the screen shot, I don't think there is a clip on the gantry holding the angled panel. I'll add one in.

In response to your 2nd edit, yes this is exactly intended since the button to open the exit door is in the "super bounce" area. Maybe I'll add to this room so this is the only way to complete it. Some people were bouncing off the gel on the floor near the angled panel which was not the intended solution.

This is a nice map, just wish there was tiny bit more problem solving. However, the map was fun to play. It was a nice way to end a day at work.+

Actually I have a Coop map in the same style in the works. It's about 90% done. It still needs a little polishing (lighting effects/overlays/decals/props) but the puzzles and mechanics are finished.

Keep an eye out for Marlow's COOP Undergound.

An interesting map. I have to agree with xdiesp that the portal sniping in the first puzzle was "meh," but the increasing fall distance and sloped box ramp was creative. My favorite was the gel puzzle, which reminded me of a infini-fall with gel instead of momentum.

My only quip is that I didn't notice the last two portable slopes until it was too late (I was facing the exit), so I had to repeat the gel puzzle (was the only portable spot I could get back to).

Great work. Looking forward to your cooperative map.

5/5.

Man this was a great map. Thoroughly enjoyed it as a late night romp thru old Aperture. Very well pieced together puzzles. Thanks for creating.

I'm playing custom maps and record my first time of playing them. So the run is not perfect and may not use only intended ways, but maybe it can let you see how other people may understand the map or you could just enjoy someone playing this map for entertainment.
Anyways, here is the recording:
