This map is based on trial and error. The error killing you and setting you back way too far. I dont like this.

For the first room, he portalable catch walls need to be much taller, giving you a better chance of hitting it at all. I realize its a finesse area, but its just annoying. You also might want to experiment with faith plates, as they would give the player more hang time to place the portals. The very first bridge wall is too wide because a couple times I placed a portal on it but the bridge didnt go through it. Thats just plain bad.

I'm writing this as I go through the level, so take it as if I'm commentating it as I play.

1. The jump where you have to turn around and place the bridge portal is stupid. Theres nothing telling you that its there and you pretty much have to jump to your death at least once to figure it out. Either place some sort of sign pointing down there, a glass floor that you can see the wall through, just SOMETHING to tell the player its there the first time. The challenge shouldnt be finding the wall, but jumping and putting a portal on it.

2. The emancipation field you have to lift the cube over over: First I threw the cube over, but on the second one I just lifted it while holding it, which is obviously easier. The player may not know this is required at first and might just let it get destroyed. Put some pretty obvious signs this is what you want to do, or inform the player that they need to keep the cube the whole time. If the cube does get fizzled, be kind enough to spawn a new one. Having to load a save or start the level all over just isnt fun.

3. Flinging the cubes and then passing through grills was a great idea. But, the fact that the portalable walls are big enough so that when you place them the object sometimes misses it its irritating as hell. Either make them smaller or have portal placement helpers to make the portal placement precise even when you're rushing to get them in the right spots. It bugged the hell out of me when I placed a portal fast enough, but it was a bit off center and the cube still hit the wall. Or, it just barely clips the side of the portal causing it to careen into the water. Simply frustrating.

Well now I'm stuck in the room with the repulsion gel. I got both of the cubes into the next area, but I just cant seem to figure out to do it myself. It appears the only way is with that faith plate, and I cant find any other way to get the repulsion gel into a position to bounce me in there. I guess I'll just keep trying!

i had no errors and i think ist always enough time. not to much so thats its easy but its solveable and this makes the fun for me. its not one of this super easy maps and thats what i enjoyed.

chamber 6 is just genius but i was able to get the cube to the end without using the blue gel so i guess it was not the prefered solution.

ah well you need it to get yourself out but this last part does not work. im pretty sure i did what you expected but with the blue gel on both sides you are always o fast/high so that you jump against the "Do not Enter" wall. so you need to make this last portal place a bit higher.

I found this map to be ludicrously frustrating.

I lost my redirection cube in the water, which made me have to start all over again, seeing how you die if you try to retrieve it.
Don't release a map without checkpoints. Especially when its one of these frustrating ones. Make the cube respawn if you accidentaly drop them into the water as well. At least make them spawn to the place where they first spawned.

Hard map, with ridiculously hard last puzzle.
I loved it, best custom sp map so far imo.
Excellent idea for the very last room, unexpected

Had the problem that i couldn't see repulsion gel smears on the very last puzzle room,
so i had to memorize positions where it dropped, making that room uber hard.

Nonetheless, gr8 work.

This map starts off way too hard imho. I got too frustrated dying over and over right at the first portal area. I had no desire to even try to go farther. You may want to consider removing the emancipation fields at the beginning. If you insist on having them, add them later, work your way up on difficulty instead of repeating the exact same thing over and over.

Tough map, but made it through the end.

I think you need to change your map properties, there is one for gel in map and I think that needs to be turned on for the blue gel to render on the walls when it splatters. As it is it brings an unnecessary difficulty to the last room to not be able to see the blue gel.

Took me a bit on the last part to little bear the momentum (just right...) to fling myself into the do not enter area.

I'm think there should be 2 switches there. I brought both cubes with me all the way through but only to find 1 button at the end where I placed my glorious companion cube.

Awesome! I almost got to the very end. Well, I mean I got the cube to the "DNE" part, but I didn't understand how to follow it if I have to press the button... Oh well, I noclipped to the end. Beautiful music

To be honest, I found it frustrating and stopped playing when my cube got stuck in the hole in the glass in the lightbridge room.

First, thanks for all your answers

It's true, I expected to find similar responses as yours, and I understand your frustration... But for me, I wanted to try to make a crazy map, a real challenging, as we can find in another games ! something which seems impossible... but possible in fact

About the cube and checkpoints, i had this idea before but no, it's cheating for me I know that I have a specific approach in portal and videogames in general i like to play hard ! that's why i created this map
I suspected that this map would not be appreciated not for some people, and I understand

I post the solution here, enjoy

This! I made the first jump then im like "ffs got to do it again" i will play the rest of the map but so annoyign just dying 40 times at the start. Will see if the rest makes up for it but really annoying. People like puzzles that are hard nopt things that rely on quick reflexs imo

Edit: Ok im even more annoyed now. Not really a spiler but the excursion tunnel bit is great! It felt like a an actual puzzle comapred to just running the gaunlet that was the rest of the test chamber so far.

The end chamber is challenging but good as well imo. 2 great chambers are in here with alot od repetative quicktime event chambers. Thanks anyway i wasn;t bored playing it 3/5 Great concept of escorting your cube to a button.

I don't understand all the people complaining about lack of checkpoints or the difficulty. Ever heard of the quick save feature? If you forget to use it, it's your fault, not the creator's.

I really liked the map. And people who don't like quick reflexes.... Just don't play the map if you don't like it... There are more than enough easier ones out.

I agree you can quick save but sometimes you may acidently save it in a unwinnable place. but there are large maps that make you think! hence why i liked the end. But tehre so many times you have to guess and its dumb luck you get through not thinking. Then the reward is you do the same reflex "puzzle" three times over. the final chamber is an actual puzzle that requires some reflex which is good as i felt i acheived something that just a leap of faith.

That's why Portal 2 keeps more than one save game (i think about 4) and only overwrites the oldest one.

The main thing is that emancipation grid a little bit after you get the cube. When I first saw it, had I not read the spoilers in this thread which explain to hold it up over your head, I would have thought the cube was useless and continued without it.

This level requires quicksave.

Thank you for your advice

enjoy !

Yay I finally got it in 37 minutes of a video. I'll let you know when I had the time to upload it! But I think at least at one point I use an unintended solution. More Information when I had the time to render and upload the recording

I started playing custom maps and record me playing them. It's neither a perfect run nor do I have to have solved the map in the way it's meant to solve it. I play the maps "blind", that means I've never been in them before and play them for the very first time. I also give a little feedback for the map in the video description.

Maybe you are interested in the fact, that I played your map: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DsbmSaXP4yU

This game was insane! For those of us with wireless keyboards and mouses, a fraction of a delay, get ready to retry 50 to 100 times. This game is all about split second timing. First you have to be willing to die over and over to solve where the next portal can go. Just know the next place is below you somewhere... The place I died the most was at the second cleanser. I had great diffculty getting the portal to stick after jumping off the beam trough the cleanser. The last room, in my view, was the only puzzle room, the rest was just drilling the skills. The design was mainly shafts, always decending. Oh the pain! Tough right?...That's this map. As for the fun factor, very little, unless you think, of course, quick reflexs with a mouse and keyboard is fun...
Eastward,
P.S. I had more little more fun with Hopeless. Nevertheless, thanks for the maps.

You really really need autosaves in here. I used the quicksave twice and then got stuck in an unwinnable place. That't shit after 40 minutes of playing!

HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLO QUICKSAVE
Seriously avoid this one unless you REALLY love seeing loading screens. I don't even know what else to say without straight up issuing threats so I'll just say I beat it. I'm going to find a fun test now.
