Description

My first map. You're in a single room with the exit behind three lasers attached to three buttons. Three weighted cubes, three buttons, but each puzzle isn't what it seems to be.

Hey guys, let me know what you thought of the map. Was it difficult?

Kibate • May 24, 2011 • #46435

I gave up on the map, and i usually never do that.
In other words, yes, yes it was hard.

(was it on purpose that the redirection cube in the glass box didn't hit the laser-receiver?)

This.

Also, there was an old saying about not playing dumb because someone won't get you're joking. A map with bad looks, a misaligned laser and that dark pit just looks unfinished\bugged. So far, so bad.

It looks ugly and I am not sure if few things are working as intended. You have to work on your map a while longer than that.

Finally got it! Awesome map, I like the difficulty. Everything is absolutely working fine (I guess). Only thing that I can really "complain" about is the "hole" beside the blue gel, thats just not beautiful.

And maybe a better ending, at least tell me I'm done and don't just put me back to main menu

Summing it up: Very nice map, very tricky map. Had to remember the name before I got the clue =)

As always its recorded, gonna repost when its uploaded (probably next week)

edit: One more thing to mention, cos I see it now (while rendering): The map was pretty loud.. The beginning was okay, but then it became loud and stayed loud. Maybe you can lower that
And a bug: I still heard the lasers at the door, when I already turned off all of them. Script bug maybe? Make it laser.onTurnOff="laser.soundOff" or anything like that (im not a mapmaker, i dont know how exactly its working)

Awesome map

I love tricky puzzles! This one still took me about 15 minutes. I won't even put a spoiler here.

Excellent work!

P.S: @Kibate & @xdiesp: yes; it's on purpose. You can fix it. Sorta.

I'm sorry, but i've tried everything
first i tried everything without cheats whatsoever
i found a portable place outside, however there is nothing.
I was able to find a spot where i can jump down to the bottom of the map, nothing there either
i got 2 redirection cubes and one normal cube, nothing there
i was able to hit the laser-receiver with the other lasers and the redirection cubes, nothing happened too

then i tried Noclip cheat and pressed the button to get another cube, nothing do with it, then got the other cube, nothing to gain from that either, was able to place a portal on the blue gel, nothing for that too, got to the place behind the glass, nothing there either and i even tried to move the redirection cube in the glassbox, nothing

WHAT IS THE POINT OF THIS MAP?!

If it is the goal to fall in the hole, then that's one of the dumbest maps i ever saw

Thanks for the comments guys! I will definitely learn how to make the sound lower and make the hole prettier, I totally agree with that. I'm glad some found it difficult but solvable, that's what my goal was. Obviously I tried to fill it with misleads for how the puzzle should be solved. I'll give a hint in the spoiler. don't turn off the final laser, use it. Thanks again!

Not sure if I solved this right, but given the title maybe I did...

I put a portal on the bent plate next to the third laser then put the other portal behind the grate in the main room and used a redirection cube to (just barely) touch the receptacle in the center of the room from the 2nd laser. Which made most of the room completely not necessary, hence why I'm unsure if I did it right, but due to the title I might have..

Also if you accidentally knock a cube off the edge you can jump down after it, land on the floor and walk around out there.

Here is a video of how I solved it. I think I broke it. However, if this was the proper way to solve it, then I would say you did your job.

When I started, I fell down a bottomless pit, then killed by some lasers. Like the name suggests, there is a lot going on in this map.

All this map needs is some aesthetic work.

-Good
I can clearly see why you put things where you did. Either by accident or on purpose, the funnel draws attention to where you need to put the portal to align the laser proper. Very good design on that part.

-bad
There are some things that look out of place. I get that the point is to distract you. Giving us access to the Blue stuff would increase the distraction value.

-Sudgestion
Perhaps putting the box behind a light bridge that we cant turn off would be better than having it randomly floating.

There is a panel that looks like it can have a portal, but cannot. I do not know if you did that on purpose

This.
I like the concept though.

I found most of the map to be a distraction. I realise this is what you were going for, but most of it just seemed redundant. I did it by using the excursion funnel to push away the cubes and jumped over the lasers to the exit. Also, It took a lot of attempts to portal some of the panels and the excursion funnel stopped half way sometimes. This map needs a lot of work.

Cool map but need some works.

Feedback:
* When respawn (sometimes) the cube at the top cage bounces weirdly!
* The laser group at the end seems so messy.
* I would nearly press that button on the wall xD

I'm playing custom maps and record my first time of playing them. So the run is not perfect and may not use only intended ways, but maybe it can let you see how other people may understand the map or you could just enjoy someone playing this map for entertainment.
Anyways, here is the recording:

One of the most disappointing maps I have played. Looks terribly wrong in spots: gel dropper isn't a dropper, funnel goes through wall, unlit holes, no proper ending. The worst part is the puzzle. The solution is so trivial I stumbled onto it before I'd even figured out what the buttons do.

I try to appreciate mappers' efforts to create something different, but this attempt failed miserably. A very rare 2/5 from me.

I managed to get the two normal cubes and solved the puzzle that way, so that was fun. I didn't even notice that any of the redirection cubes were gettable. The aesthetics need serious work. It looks unfinished and the glass surfaces were really hard to see. Also it was hard to figure out what the buttons and the laser catcher did, especially the laser catcher because it opens the door and leaves it open (so it didn't do anything the second time I tried it).

For some reason, it took several tries to place a portal on many of the portal surfaces. And the entire screen would be filled with something weird for a split second every once in a while.

Made alot of 'prorgress' in this map if you could call it that, but ended up with nothing to do really at the end so i just deleted it. Good fun though.
