Description
Lesson0 I wanted to take a break from my ongoing project, so this one is different from my usual style. This is one short puzzle, but it is meant to be more challenging than the average map. The intended solution involves a maneuver I haven't seen used before in Portal 2, and I want to see if people solve it quickly. That said, the map never requires anything like exploits or crazy ninja skills. You will need a decent reaction time, though. Let me know of any bugs, reasonable exploits I missed, or anything else. Screenshot 1 Screenshot 2 Screenshot 3 Updates: Mar. 19: Removed unintended portal sniping solution. I would urge you to try again if your solution involved sniping past glass. Mar. 28: Made things easier to execute. Apr. 1: Removed another exploit caused by previous update. Apr. 8: Removed exploit pointed out by Jepp. Made in two days. It isn't as detailed as my upcoming maps.

This is hard. I don't actually know how to get the cube past the fizzler since I need the cube to deactivate it...
I haven't spent that much time yet, though. I'll have to think about it.
well, I passed the test. The second time.
The first time I played, I fell in the goo and when I ended up in the second room with the button, the button seems to be activated, without anything on it.

Weird. Is that the button save glitch? I thought that was fixed with the DLC. I'll look into, but I couldn't recreate it. Needless to say, that isn't supposed to happen. Where were you when you died? And where did you reload to?
Done

It took me about one hour to figure out the solution, and just few minutes to execute
Is this new maneuver jumping out of ground portal, then shooting same portal on wall and going through it?
wow this was great! just a button, a fizzler, and one laser and still u got me struggling for almost an hour. very nice little puzzle.
i uploaded my solution.

am i supposed to shoot the portal there at 0:30? because its looks like the glasswall should prevent the player from doing that.

self-facepalm No, I made some last minute change and I forgot to check if it was possible to snipe there. I'm uploading a fix soon.
The rest is more or less the solution.
Edit: Done. I urge you to try the new download if your solution involved shooting around the glass.
Cheer man, really satisfying map ^^
Easier to appreciate the intricacies of positioning the portal in the acid room by not shooting behind the glass panel.
Ugh, waaaay over my head. If Jacu hadn't posted the solution I'd have starved to death in that chamber. Great idea!
Nice map! I really enjoyed it and it took me about an hour to complete. Keep them coming.

Yep, that's it! Good to hear, I always try to make my maps as easy to execute as possible.

Nice one

A great map. The solution isn't clear at first, but when you figure it out, it's quick and easy to perform. I like how you used that maneuver like you did. It really had me stumped for a good while until I figured out exactly what it was I had to do.
Nope, never would have figured it out. Even with the solution presented I still had a tough time with the jump through "trick" in this map.
Thanks for creating.
Genius . . . sheer genius.
Two new moves (ceiling punch-through and then wall punch-through) - seemingly so obvious and right there in front of you . . . yet never done before in any map I have seen, and oddly . . . very insidious to figure out. I just was not looking for those moves since no map ever required them before !!
After 3 days I finally had to cheat and watched the solution video.
Then I promptly smacked myself silly. Well done, my Man !!
I got stuck on the dumbest thing. I had the punch through the ceiling, and the push through the wall parts (thanks to Jonatan's "Headache"), but I kept trying to fling up onto the white tower instead of the stairs. After I saw Jacu use that place, I felt I had been misled by the uneven portal surface there. I didn't even bother to check if it was big enough to hold a portal.
Well, it isn't up to the mapper to give away their secrets easily (at least, grayarea seems to think so). I'm just pissed that I got so damn close to having it, and gave up before exhausting every inch of portal surface.
So, what do I think about the map? One word: flingtastic! 4/5, because I'm docking you one point for blind laser aiming.
Great map, got me stuck for quite a long time.
Watch what you have done to me:

Watching that video.. I'd almost say the hardest part was to point that laser in a 90? angle.. Stop laughing at me!

I wasn't laughing. That's why I docked Random one rating point. It seems to be an easily fixable obstacle. Is that glass panel even necessary?

I actually had it fragmented from the rest of the floor to try to stand out and make it easier to quickly place a portal against the wall. I think I'll just make that section larger/more square so hopefully no one will have that confusion. (You don't have to place it sideways like Jacu did, if that makes a difference.)

The glass is there to prevent a ninja solution.
That's a fair point. It's what I'm least happy about, and the reason I'm labeling this as separate from my other map-packs. I wanted to let both portal be placed while handling the cube but doing that would only make things way more convoluted. I also hoped the lines of the floor tiles would help show the player a straight line. I'll try to fix this too, since it is still a problem.
Cool video, Djinndrache, they are always fun to watch!
Edit: Okay, I finally uploaded it with the changes.
I came up with another solution but I'm afraid it was an exploit
Spoiler
By placing accurately the cube you can direct the beam either to the glass switch or the field switch, depending where you place your second portal:
http://i43.tinypic.com/v6m1s2.png
From there I just needed to do a jump in the big room with a bit of angle (in order not to jump past the platform and not fall in water) and activate portal last moment (so there is enough time to reach the platform before the glass closes).
After that same than the others; a portal on the side of the cube so that it falls in the main room, etc..
Maybe solution is to place a grid on the lateral surfaces?
*edit: Reading all the posts, it is definitely an exploit...
Map looks so simple but it's one of the most rewarding maps I have played 5/5 for me
Fun and thoughtful little map that took me about 45 min to solve. You really felt awesome when managing this one I must say, nice thinking (with portals) outside the box! It also looked very nice for only two days work! 5/5 from me and I'd love to see more of this concept!
I did however find another solution witch I wanted to show you, but it took me about 15 minutes to execute it because I had such a tiny timeframe to shoot my portal. Anyways here's the speeded up version

Jepp, you don't give up easily, do you?
What got me with this map was the description. I have seen the floor to ceiling / floor to wall fling before in a (granted, ancient) Portal 1 map, so I didn't think that was it. I was searching for some impossible recursive laser cube tossing thing and I thought that the moving glass panel had something to do with it. Now I understand that you made that glass panel open to make it easier to aim the laser initially.
It took me about an hour, but in my case that was more because of all the obfuscation going on than about the difficulty of discovering the key element
Well done on the map, and for a 2 day job it looks very nice!
Didn't get if I found intended solution... While others in topic looks too complicated.
Did map in 10 or 15 min using additional speed from that door opening: highjump on door, then enabel&disable door trigger and jump back with additional speed from door movie. Nice map.
Completed (without hints)
Took me a little longer than the rest of you guys (2 hours longer to be exact, hehe, I'm a tad slow)
But it did require some ninja skills I must add (I was toying with the idea but then thinking no way I can pull that off, and then finally pulling it off. Hehe.
I and i like the centerpiece idea, I'd call it "long-term conservation of momentum" (when you can reclaim the momentum at a later time, by cleverly shooting a portal in the ceiling)
PS
Way to confuse me with that sliding screen door, it was not needed at all! And I spent quite some time trying to figure where to use it.
