An honest beginner's job, featuring a clean gel chamber and its small intro. For being that unimpressive, that sole puzzle can be frustrating: due to the failsafes in place to counter alternate solutions, that last mundane jump is made much harder than it's supposed to.
The problem I had with this map is that there wasn't much thinking involved. More or less, I just covered the map with paint and utilized my quick twitch finger that I developed playing first-person shooters like TF2. Also, you should probably make that back area a bit more noticeable - for a full 5 minutes, I did not notice that the two fizzlers were connected to the same room because all the walls were the same textures.
very very basic. Poor textures as said before. But the map is correct, everything works well. The last jump is pretty hard to do, since you need to make two portals in a few miliseconds to reach the exit. 2/5 but keep going. I'm sure you can now make more sofisticated maps.
I speedran it in 40 seconds. Im posting a video now.

xD nice, have more or less the same ideas at the first run.
the "right" solution for the last room is still a mystery for me...
some "bugs" ...maybe it should be so?
door trigger
Last room: when i use the right way it works, but with the left way the door closes shortly before I reach them. oO (hm, Tyronis use the left way and it works :/)
thanks for mapping, but needs an update!
The puzzle was easy, but the execution was made quite hard with the last fling timing. You should try more for the puzzle and less for difficulty of execution - the latter is easy...Thanks for creating I look forward to your next map....

Same here, I used 2 different methods to get up to the exit door and neither of them required any quick portal shooting.
||One was basically the same as the speed runners solution using only blue gel to bounce up.
For the other solution I got to the far side and found the side hall with portal panels at the end. I coated the floor of the hall with orange gel then placed the other portal on the angled surface that faces the exit door. I ran down the hall and jumped before going through the portals. Somehow I ended up getting an extra boost out of that jump and so I got all the way to the exit. I think there's some invisible force pushing you if you do that jump like I did.||
I also found a couple ways to get over to the fizzler side of room 2.
||I think the normal way is spray blue gel on the wall from either of the angled panels. Then make a path of orange gel that you can run down and jump at teh end of toward the spot of blue gel. This bounces you at a higher speed getting you across the acid in one jump+wallbounce.
Another way only uses blue gel:
Start at 1 moving forward and jump at 2 through the portals(must be a perfect jump, no portal-edge bumping), bounce at 3 and hold forward in the air. If done right this will get you across the acid pit.

yes too short 40 sec XD and easy.poor texture wall and floor same texture.? know now and next map long, hard, detailed.
who play long way XD
Thanks for reply.
I downloaded the new version but when I loaded up the map I had no crosshair. I tried other maps and still had no crosshair. I'm verifying the files right now so hopefully it gets fixed. I don't think it has anything to do with your map though, probably just bad luck.
Very humbly, I did the 2nd room by portaling at full speed from the slated panel in front of the exit. Probably took 15 tries because of the geometry and\or exploit blockers, but it is possible. Also notice how jumping from the white wall on the same level as the exit closes the door, being prevented.
There's some more bugs in your map.
Here's a video showing an alternate way to get to the exit.

Also at the beginning of your map you can walk out of the elevator as it's rising and get stuck in the floor.
Um, 91 votes for a rating of 5 on a first time map? When the thread only has 12 posts? And people calling out bugs in the thread?
Something seems sketchy there.

Not everyone sees this as critical! (unfortunately)

I've had the same thing happen to my map. Someone's got a bot or something to generate redundant accounts to distort the voting, why someone would bother to do that. I have no idea.
In case this isn't completely obvious there is no limit on how many times you can vote atm.

Which is in serious need of fixing. As I've read from msleeper and a few other moderators, they're looking for a more effective way to rate and highlight maps. Honestly, some of the best maps I've played weren't even rated 5. The rating system can seriously be whacked.

Yeah, the admins are aware that the download database plugin isn't the best. We're doing what we can to improve matters.

Though I will say, while I was annoyed at first, having a map rated a 46439 out of 5 is kinda amusing.

Lol its obvious its was you, who else would up vote such a "not so good" map.
pls, stop the childish flame!

I'm playing custom maps and record my first time of playing them. So the run is not perfect and may not use only intended ways, but maybe it can let you see how other people may understand the map or you could just enjoy someone playing this map for entertainment.
Anyways, here is the recording:

old version ...so: BORING!
-_-
pS: it just makes sense when you upload your gameplay a little time after

Then try to play and upload about 400 maps within 2-3 months, have a internet connection that sucks and render/upload only full HD videos with 1080p, it's just not possible to get all the videos uploaded within a proper time with this internet connection. Luckily I'm every now and then at a place with a good internet connection, there I can make major upload sessions with videos of a file size as much as my USB sticks can carry (atm I upload about 35GB with every major upload session). Another good fact is that I'm running very good with my queues, the rendering queue is empty since quite some while and the upload queue is finished soon, too. Then the uploads from Portal maps will come in a way shorter delay to the playing date.
I guess the next major upload session will be on Tuesday, I plan to decrease the upload queue to below 20 by then and then I'll get rid off those queues and get a proper upload delay again (at least for portal maps). I guess within a few weeks I'll have more than 400 Portal2 videos uploaded which is quite a bunch. msleeper already got too lazy to favorite all of them on the TWP channel
(at least he doesnt get them all at once^^)

Dude, don't pick on him. His videos are awesome and he does every map. If you think you can do better, go ahead and do your own videos. Its easy for you to just critisize his work though.

Come on, little flamer! I haven't attacked him personally, so why do you interfere in it?
I appreciate his work, but it's not perfect ...that's all what I say. Cannot do it better, because I have a newbie internet connection, too. So....I know it's hard!!!
@Djinndrache: You haven't understood me correct. ...so let me explain, please.
(I don't want a kiddie dispute just because we misunderstand us
)
I know definitely, that it is a hard work to record, encode and upload ...BUT: it was your own wish to do that and thereby you have to "obligations" ...I know this from experience. It is difficult to stay up to date, you see it yourself!
I think it would be better, when you concentrate on final maps with unimportant or none bugs.
For example this map: The first/second version was extremely buggy and it has got a big fix ...thereby, your solution is not helpful (for me), because in room 3 your way don't work now.
And i thought your gameplays are for understand the test player, bug fixing and walkthrough ...or isn't it?
Well, sorry for my hard words, it wasn't meant that way you believe! Sorry!
Please take my point...
pS: In which way you record and encode your files? As redemption: Can I help you with your uploads?
...pls send me a message
Yes, no problem for this map?

I played version 2.0. Apparently simple map, yet I just could not make the final fling. I fell just short on my best attempts, and well short on most. You need some indication of the side hallway; why not just skip that, put the portal on the side and have players run across the end room? As it is, it just isn't that interesting to spend 90% of your time trying to make one thing work. 3/5 from me.
