Why you little rascal you.....Imagine my surprise when I go thru all that work just to discover the funnel is a big fat red herring! Map was very clever, certainly put me thru my paces. Well done. Thanks for making....and Happy Holidays!

Got through it, but almost certainly an unintentional BS solution.

Get cube up to emancipation field button and deactivate it, placing it near the hole. Jump down into floor portals to preserve momentum, make a tough midair angle shot to big floor surface in exit room. Now oscillating in floor portals in each room, land on BS ledge of the glass pane w the hole in cube room. Grab button thru hole and throw to ground. Jump back in portals. Midair, shoot under cube to redirect it beneath you and replace portal under you (a la Beamchain). Grab it on the way up to exit, step on the cube, exit.

Please confirm my solution to be nonsense so I can continue spending my holiday break obsessing over this puzzle. The solution must be nuts, this puzzle is so sparse on elements.

Nice find. Yes that solution is unintended. We will move the hole further away from the button to prevent that in next version.

Awesome puzzzle again Jonatan.

This is what I've got (nothing really):

1. Cube onto the fizzler button. I've placed the blue portal near the fizzlers and the orange below the cube. I'm swinging between portals until I manage to place the orange portal on the other room where of course I can reach the top ledge with the exit. Now I start swinging again between portals opening the blue portal nearer each time to the glass window room with the cube on the button. I can stand on the window frame, but I can't reach the opposite side of that room with momentum enough to get up to the cube anymore. If the hole in the window would have been wider I could have gotten the cube easily thorugh it.

2. Cube launched from the fizzlers room to the funnel room by a momentum while I'm pressing the fizzler button. I put the cube on the funnel button (and the nearest possible to the ledge that of its left); get high enough by the funnel to gain momentum and place one portal on the floor below (near of the funnel's end), and the other on the white panels below the cube the closest to the right part so it is the nearest possible to the cube. I then swing between portals trying to get the cube while I fly without success.

The only remaining thing I'm now trying is to stand myself on the funnel button and try to funnel the cube up to the exit platform somehow! Still trying some of "swinging the cube between portals trying to touch it a little to deviate its path and get it to the final ledge... But anyway, getting up there myself later alone with no funnel seems to be difficult or not possible at all because after placing one portal on the white panels of the wall and the other on the floor gives not enough momentum to get up to the final ledge!

OR... use those floor white panels in the lowest room to gain even more momentum...

... I'm running out of ideas!

I found- Eaiest way to get the cube out is to get up to the ledge with cube and portal on the target and one below.Drop the cube and stand on the button to deactivate the fizzler.

Yes andyb, that was my point n?2.

But I've tried everyting with the cube at the funnel room to no avail... I tried so many things that I found interesting flings and ideas to use for my coming mappack...

Nice find marKiu. We did try to get under the platform in the fizzler room without losing height as you did in your video, but we didn't manage to do it ourselves. It is not supposed to be possible. Will fix it next version. Thanks for testing.

Wow MarKiu, I swear I tried like a thousand simlar ninja flings yesterday without success. It was totally impossible for me to go under the plattform without losing momentum, but you found a kinda tricky maneuver by entering the orange portal just a bit angled to get enough aside of the plattform to get the other side...

It's a pity that wasn't the intended solution.

I will try this afternoon a few things.

ye kinda sad cuz i tried it like 100 times to strafe under the plattform...
i found another solution btw but i guess its still not the intended solution.
This jump drove me insane because when im recording on fraps i have a huge fps drop... dont try this if you dont have at least 1h of freetime

Ok. New version (hopefully) fixes all solutions previously posted in this thread. It is unfortunate we did not manage to find these before releasing, but it is next to impossible to think of everything. Hope you like the new version. Happy testing!

@ MarKiu and Xtreger:

To me, you both are the BOSSES!!!

Even though it seems that it's not the intended way by jonatan... man, I tried a whole afternoon thousands of flings exacept those shown in your videos to get what you just got! That was just awesome to see!

Congratulations!

So, let's try the new version. I assume that the funnel must really need to be used finally (judging jonatan's reply...).

A possible solution to Version 1.2 :

http://youtu.be/RRp7ejoP_ds

(There are some unnecessary jumps from 1:25 to 1:38 due to mouse problems)

I can't figure out whether the tractor beam is needed...

Nice find Xtreger. We did try the same maneuver but didn't manage to do it ourselves. It is now patched in version 1.3. (It is the only change.)

Sorry to interrupt you guys! But this is getting REAAAALLY funny!

Are you going to be like this the whole afternoon??

hehehehehe...

EDIT: would it be possible that this headache is turning against its creator?....

Xtreger, I knew you would find that solution. Unfortunately not easy to patch so we will have to keep it as it is. There is another easier to execute solution though which does not require any cubebumping.

I see... Unfortunately I couldn't figure out any simpler way
Anyway, that was yet another awesome map... (and the first one by you that I could solve)

I have a new solution, and if its not the intended I'm taking a day off . It lacks exploits, the need for quick saves, or ninja moves. Here is the youtube. Jonatan and Johannes, please watch and let me know if its right.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aDSKg1b7D8M

P.S. I apologize for the annoying time it took me to do it, I was being very patient to get it in one clean shot . Also, note that my last move was unnecessarily ninja and could be done so the placement is done in the direction of momentum. So its still a clean solution in my book

And as always, big ups to the brothers for these mind-numbing puzzles

That might very well be the intended solution, nice job! And now I feel like banging my head against a wall...

Congratulations! That is, in essence, the intended solution. There are only some minor differences from what we had planned, and they don't really change anything substantial. Jonatan will post a video when it has finished uploading.

Nice solution, I had done that sequence jumping into the high orange in my early developments, but I never thought to work it into my final solution. My beamchain solution had small deviations too, so I might have to take first solve credit again . Hope you guys keep mapping, these things make me lose sleep, ignore family and friends, and develop borderline attention deficit disorders but I love them. Keep em coming!

Xtreger should have some credit (beyond his many ninja-fling solutions ) in being the first one to use the low ceiling to get the correct amount of altitude for the last fling. That's the puzzle the whole map was built around (and the reason for headache). Well done, everyone.

Well OOOOK Apparently X had that way before me, but I did figure it out for myself. I looked at spoilers to solve Quadro and Beamtrap as a Jonatan (and Johannes) newbie, and I still feel pangs of guilt But Ive been clean ever since

Hey

Well J&J, don't give up on us, you can still beat all the unintended solutions, here's another one by my bro the pro chessmaster, hope you like it:

2Ebt4_lUEBg

BTW, did somebody find the REAL solution to this? Is there one even?
PS: don't obstruct this solution, it is not easy to perform and somebody might want to practice that technique. Thanks.

Another diabolical puzzle by you two than earns an easy 5/5 from me .

I first went down the road that Xtreger did in his first posted solution for 1.3, but I couldn't gt the momentum right. I got the cube to the exit platform, but just couldn't get myself up there.

Then I was led astray for quite a while by the same cube bumping accident that I had in Beamchain. I thought, "Those dirty bastards decided to make that part of a puzzle!" I even managed to cube bump myself to the floor portal, but coming out of it, I just got bumped again to nowhere useful.

It took me a long time to figure out that the answer was in the other room. Then happy coincidences that I recently played maps involving jumping through portals in walls and slideways reportaling gave me the final pieces.

You guys are evil geniuses. If you ever join the military, I'm moving to Montana .
