Description

This puzzle-heavy map is set in multiple conjoined rooms to make it appear like the clean facility from Portal only with a lot of the new features and textures (gels, funnels, etc). It's designed to start of relatively simple but get much more challenging as you progress.

I liked your map except for one area. The area you show in the screen shot. I couldn't figure out how to get to the button from the large blue gelled platform. I used the faithplate and bounced on the gel but was just short every time. I nocliped over to finish solving it. What was the reverse funnel for? Please PM the answer if you dont want to post it.

Very fun map to play. Like benvent this part make search a lot.

Benvent, you have to manage to put some blue gel on the light bridge.

Impressive map doubledispatch! 5 cakes!

Really challenging. It's the just the way I like the maps. Overall the third part. That big trio of chambers full of tricky puzzles that radiate cleverness.

It is true that the map goes increasing the difficulty level little by little. At the end, in the 3rd part with the 3 chambers, I left for the last the chamber with the blue gel up in the center and the big swamp. WHAT A CHAMBER, MAN!! I think I spent like 1:30 hours just there! Sparks were coming out of my brain!! But I finally figured out! And what is more, I really think I did in the intended way. And I loved that chamber. AWESOME PUZZLE... Congrats!

On the other hand, I haven't encountered any bugs, which gives you bonus points. And the developing of each chamber is very well done. I remark 2 little things I specially liked because they are unusual details that speaks a bit of the good taste and potential of a mapper: when you get out of the elevator path at the beginning in the first chamber and you look back, you realize that you have just get out of just a cube that doesn't meet the internal dimensions of the elevator path room... it's strange but I liked it. And secondly, the detail of the change of gravity as a transition between chamber 2 and 3... also liked it.From all the map I take the latest part with the 3 chambers.

Here is my playthrough:

Thanks for mapping!!

Another thankyou to everyone who has taken the time to play my map. Now in the video I did notice one exploit in the room where I took the screenshot (you weren't meant to be able to get to that big central block like that) so I'll have to fix that.

EDIT: Okay, the map has now been updated and two of the things you did josepezdj to problem-solve in the area with the screenshot will no longer be possible since I had other solutions in mind. That said, thankyou for posting that video which alerted me to this. I must still say though, yours were good ideas I didn't think of (but they were far from what I intended).

I'm playing custom maps and record my first time of playing them. So the run is not perfect and may not use only intended ways, but maybe it can let you see how other people may understand the map or you could just enjoy someone playing this map for entertainment.
Anyways, here is the recording:

Thankyou for uploading that video. For the record, in the room where the screenshot was taken, you were meant to use the orange excursion funnel to hold blue gel and then let it drop onto the light brisge and use that to bounce onto the far platform. I'll probably be doing some more updating of the map.

Nice Map. On my playthrough i don't see this Button http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hi8M7Y6TF2Q#t=10m18s
You don't need the Button to solve this puzzle but it would be good players cann see and use it.

Which version are you playing? If it's v1.2, then I understand how you might not need to use it. If it was v1.4, may I ask how you solved it instead?

Clever solution. I'll leave that in amongst the intended one. It can be done without hitting that button if you solve it your way though, so I didn't really see a need to make a button that you needn't use obvious. Still, I might add a few indicator lights connecting it to the emanscipation grill in an unofficial update. BTW, that looks like v1.2 to me. Thanks for showing me.

I got asked to re-play a newer version of this map because I seem to have unintentionally used exploits...

So I tried hard to exploit all the same things again, nobody tells me not to find my own ways!

Thankyou for uploading this. Contrary to what you said, you've actually solved this a lot close to what I initially intended. The only actual exploit I saw you use was using the cube to get to the red gel button and that looked a lot harder than the actual solution so pretty much everything you did was what I'd call an alternate solution. I'm pretty impressed with that.

Really? Damn it I loved the cube jump though, random idea that came to my mind

Okay, I've taken what you've said into account and made that update among a few others.

EDIT: The update has now worked.

I like to have multiple solutions in my maps. It makes it more like the first portal. However, the cube jump will no longer be possible in the newest version.

This short scenario (5 chambers) shows effort and care to make the complete package, with basically all gaming elements covered somewhere (machines, gels). On the other hand, execution and puzzlework left me uninterested.

Firsts, visually it's all about plain, dark rooms lacking in detail and polish. Then, puzzles are movement based (going through traps etc) but somewhat clanky at due to oversized proportions and not so precise jump setups. More quantity than quality.

Bear in mind that this is my first release. It's not like I do this as a job or have a lot of time for it.

I'll admit, graphically it may not be the most impressive thing, but since I was trying to recreate the Portal feel, that is intended to at least a small extent. As for the not so precise jumps, what exactly do you mean by this? I did have to edit the geometry a bit different to what I initially intended in order to fix exploits, but unless you've been thinking of the wrong solution, the jumps were perfectly intuitive during mine and my friends' playthroughs. That said, a video or more detailed description would be appreciated.
