Description
Welcome Ninjas! This is my fifth map and my first try to implement gels. I worked a lot on this one and I think it's finally ready to be released. As you can see by the name this map focuses a lot on your agility skills. I would recommend that only average players should try this. And for those who are playing with a controller..... buy a mouse. Note: You don't need any kind of crazy bunnyhopping or insane strafejumps to solve it. Agility means there are moves that require quickness and precission. Anyways I tried to make the solution as clean as possible so if your failing a lot at some point you should probably try something else. As always I'm happy to see your solutions and please give me some feedback. Good luck ninjas! v1.1 removed multiple unintended solutions (Thanks to Jacu, Sicklebrick, Shakky and HeadShot) v1.2 fixed more unintended solutions by shakky and Jacu v1.3 fixed Jacus unintended solution for the end move.

Wow... awesome! I think this is even better than the one with all the cube switching ^^
It looks good, plays smoothly, makes you think, takes a bit of logic, and it feels bright and open - surefire 5/5

Excuse the delay.. got sidetracked trying to figure out multipart demos again.. there are a few choppy cuts, but screw it
Really fun map so far. I've made some progress but I can't figure out how to get blue goo to the second platform. It would be so easy if there were no placement helpers :/
Also I haven't used the angled platform on the first room at all so I'm worried I did something unintended. My way of getting the second cube was little odd but it worked.
I will continue my journey tomorrow. Thanks again for a great map!
Well I got through it! Felt pretty clean, not sure if its intended though... Seems like there's some stuff I didn't use. I'll get a vid up soon.
Screen Shot 2012-06-14 at 7.18.56 PM.png
Yeah, I figured the companion cube for example was there just as a decoy.. Couldn't for the life of me work out how to get that
Here's a zip of the demo. I split it into two parts where I had to quicksave.... Check it out mark, I decided not to do a youtube because its probably unintended.
DojoVector.zip
Wow very nice guys!
If you call for ninjas... they come!
Guess if have to rework some parts because almost none of your solutions are intended.
@Sicklebrick
Thanks for the vid. The last part was clever... I missed a placement helper there
@shakky
I guess you get a cube in the blu room the same way as HeadShot did. Jacu told me about that after the release and thats not intended. Let me see if I can fix that.
@HeadShot
Wow nice how you used the blue gel for the last part. This solution will be a little harder to block :/ I'll check that out tomorrow.
Puh... Should have definitely playtested more... So many unintended stuff
I'm sorry for that.
The next update will be uploaded tomorrow and I hope you will try it again. I wont let you guys get away this easy
*Updated to v1.1
My way of getting the cube in the blue gel room still works.
That and my way overcomplicated way of getting the second cube without the ceiling portal surface I hadn't noticed can be seen in the video below.
BuwBvcdqpmU
I will continue solving this later.
Still no luck finnishing it but here is my way to get second cube on this new version.
c43NIJzbPfA
Another great map! Still no clue how to access the final area, but luckily it's already a weekend
Is Shakky's way intended? I did it slightly different. If you paint also lower floor on the other side of the room, you can keep one portal in room 1, and climb up with gel in this room
No progress from me, portal under final room placed, but still no idea how to bring cubes there.
Thanks guys... I had mixed feelings when releasing this but I'm happy you enjoy it
@Jacu
Shakkys way is slightly diffrent from the intended way. I guess you used the correct way if you painted the small surface to jump back over the goo. But his solution is way cooler then the intended way
Jacu wrote:

That was pretty cool Jacu. Was trying to figure out something similar
Really creative solution... Sadly it's not intended :/
I'll update the map as soon. You will like the final solution
marKiu wrote:

So the intended way is to paint it red, so that to jump onto the other side w/o losing a portal? Or is blue as in Jacu's video? The only way I found to use blue gel that far on the map involved what I believed to be a glitch (somehow, the cube placed under the red gel dispenser falls through the grating under the blue gel dispenser after I place two portals there).
My last question: can you confirm sicklebrick's statement on the companion cube being a decoy?
Let me answer your questions while marKiu is sleeping.
May include spoilers to someone.
-It doesn't really matter which gel you use because it's just for getting back over without shooting a portal.
-There is an intended way of getting a cube into the blue gel room so it is possible to get blue gel there.
-About the companion cube issue, marKiu said that there is a way to get it but it's not easy.
If you have more questions just ask and I'm sure someone will answer them.
Shakky wrote:

Thanks a lot Shakky!
There is another way to get the cube into the blue gel room. Just put it in the small chamber with orange gel and go to the blue room. From there teleport some blue gel to the orange room. The cube starts bouncing. After some time and some tryes it comes throw the fence into the blue room
HAHA

Here is how:
-one cube on bridge button. Paint second one blue and bring it to the dropper room. Let it go so it will break the window.
-paint button room like this:
to do that you will need these portals:
-get acces to blue gel room
-go to button room, jump down, place orange portal in blue room and get back up
-shoot orange portal on the ceiling in middle room and then quickly same portal next to orange gel dropper so its slow down
-now you can jump to the dropper room, bouncing off painted surface in middle room
-stand on cube and let the gel slow down.
-just place portal in security room and it will paint piece of floor. You are done
Completely intended
Well done Jacu!
I'll upload the updated version in a few hours. Theres still a tricky move to get to the exit
I have just solved 1.2. and could post a video of a WK, if anyone is interested, and as nobody yet has posted a WK of this version - unless someone beats me to the punch (may take me a while to do a decent video, as I keep making mistakes when trying to redo my solution, I don't think anyone wants to watch all of these mistakes and I'm crap at editing)
Really interesting use of paint, though in fact the difficulty comes mostly from all these fizzlers and having to get ot the end with both cubes. What is also difficult about is also that trying a solution you might think of is every time a lot of work to set up, and it is very unforgiving if you do just one mistake (i.e. have to redo a whole series of steps), like forgetting a patch of paint somewhere or fizzling a cube before you have done everything you had to do with the cube in that position. But don't get me wrong, that was exciting! It got me thinking and thinking again even whilst redoing my solution, sometimes even forgetting what in the hell I had done in my previous run to make it work (= good replayability). Or maybe it's just my brains going to mush...
I'd like to ask 2 things:
- My solution to put one cube into the gel room is yet different from all the above but still does not seem intended because it is not very reliable. I put the old cube on the lightbridge button, then the new cube which has been dipped into the oragne gel on the ligthbridge just above a portal on the floor. The exit portal is in room 2, and the player is right next to the old cube button. Then fizzle old cube with the button which makes the new cube fall and exit with some speed in room 2. If you put the exit portal on the wall closest to room 3 the cube will get to the blue gel band in the middle and rebound (with some luck, though a neat placement helps) towards the blue gel room. Meanwhile right after you fizzle the old cube you let yourself down into room and as soon as the cube gets out of the exit portal you go through the fizzler and will press the plate so the cube is not fizzled while sliding its way into the blue gel. As I say this is not very reliable and very thight timing, maybe 1 on 10 tries will work, so I'd like to know if there is another intended solution so I would keep looking for it
- I did not got the CC. In theory I see a possible way to get it, that is by making blue paint going at an angle from the panel on top of the room 4 button to the room where the old cube falls. It is possible to do angles with the pannels in room 2, I've done it with red paint. However with blue paint it is much more difficult because you have to switch not one but 2 portals in quick succession.. Thus in terms of execution I don't know if it's even possible, so please let me know if there ia another solution - again, so that I keep looking - because I'm not going to try the above, it's TOO painful. Yet another possibility is making a ramp of red + blue gel on the top of room 4 to get at the CC by the other end. I tried that too but just kept missing it by a hair, again I'm not sure if it is because it is impossible that way or if my execution was not good enough.
PS: I came up independently with the same move than sicklebrick / EDIT: sorry, I meant Jacu / for the final move, so as twisted as it may seem it may still be more obcvious than the intended one.

- Intended - I did it in the same manner and MarKiu told me, that this is correct
- I posted CC solution above, probably when you were writing your post

If that's the intended solution, then it was pretty random for me to execute. In fact, I had more luck simply painting a cube blue and letting it bounce into the blue gel room, or painting the blue room's floor and the small area outside orange and backsliding into the room while dropping the cube.
Also: for the intended solution, you need 2 cubes, right? Then how did you manage to get blue gel into room 3 as you show in a previous video even before you got the second cube? -
Can you please elaborate on this maneuver:
||"-go to button room, jump down, place orange portal in blue room and get back up
-shoot orange portal on the ceiling in middle room and then quickly same portal next to orange gel dropper so its slow down"||?
I couldn't do it the way described, instead placing orange portals on the floor and ceiling of middle room, but that gives only a split second to place a portal in the security room.
Thanks!

- I can do it once per 3 tries or so. Make sure, that cube is paralell to the floor while going through portals.
I painted blue room after getting 2nd cube. Speaking truly I did it after doing everything else, even long jump. After painting I just needed to do few moves again, like putting cubes on correct buttons and just mentioned long jump.
2.||- little surface under button room must be painted blue. Jump on it twice, then you can shoot portal in that room. Do that and go there. Jump down on painted surface, shoot orange portal under blue gel dropper while flying and go back up (still jumping on this little surface).
-you are in button room. Shoot blue portal on floor surface in middle room. Shoot orange one on the ceiling (gel will slow down a bit) and immediatly shoot same portal next to orange gel droper (Shakky's video, 2:08). This will slow the gel so much, so you can paint cube dropper room||

Thanks for the reply
- Good to know thanks, though I wish that the way to make the cube rebound properly would be more reliable/repeatable at will
- Well actually I did see your post but did not want to look at the solution, because I still wanted to look for myself a bit. However I wanted to know if it is one of the thing I mention or something else (without saying what exactly) - to know if it is worth keep looking. But if I give up I know where to look!
EDIT: just wanted to add, what a great title for the map! On top of a pun, it is so appropriate in both its terms (dojo for the aesthetics, pain for...you know what), and also meaningful as a whole with a serie-B art martial movie connotation. Best title on a custom map ever!
REEDIT: Enter the DOJO OF PAAAIIIN. Many go in, but few esapce unscathed...
Ok guys! Map is updated again
I fixed Jacus unintended end move. Please give it a try again and let me see your solutions
@Yorgn Thanks for the detailed feedback. I'm aware of the randomness with the jumping cube. But with the correct portal and cube positioning I can do it every third or fourth time. I wasn't able to make the move cleaner without making it totally obvious. About point 1 and 2. Jacu aswered them already and I've nothing to add.

Aha! Now I see
- I figured the first part with floor/ceiling gel portals but at the time I was already in the dropper area so couldn't find another floor portal to preserve the slowdown of the gel flow.
BTW, MarKiu: I noticed that, for example, the platforms used for the "triple jump" on the bottom have barely legible icons next to them, which prompted me to paint them, but couldn't see any similar signs next to any of the windows. Maybe a hint there wouldn't out of place?

Good point

Not even if I say Pretty Please? With Cherry on Top?
Did not want to know the solution, Just if it was worth keep looking...
well Jacu posted the intended solution and I don't think that theres any other... There's one insane strafejump that gets pretty close to the opening in the wall. But I dont think that it's possible.
*edit
nvm
I managed a very ninja solution haha. So I take that back
keep looking
I took another try at this map and after ~3 hours of hardcore portalling I managed to get the companion cube. I come here all proud and see that Jacu had solved it long time before me. Well I still feel happy that I figured out something I thought to be impossible.
Here is how I came to my solution for the companion cube:
I thinked about breaking the glass earlier but I didn't even try to achieve that and decided to continue with the puzzle because I thought there might be some crazy way to angle blue gel from middle rooms floor panel. But today while playing the new version I accidentally destroyed the dirty cube and decided to noclip it back because I hadn't saved. While noclipping I noticed that that observation room was made custom and it had different floor texture (which is unalinged btw) that the stock one. After that I was sure that was the solution.
It took me a while to come up with a way to get to the dirty cube without the lightbridge. I used same gel placement as Jacu but I don't get how he got it using that portal placement. I played with that long time ago but with no luck. I personally slowed the orange goo down same way I did for the blue.
Rest of our solutions are identical.
Also marKiu, I can bunny hop jump the companion cube back into the map and use it in the puzzle. Also you have the player clip in that observation room which is wierd but it might be intentional. I don't know yet if extra cube will help as I'm really tired and will continue with the final jump later. I just had to come here and share my triumph.
Gratz Jacu for being the first to get the companion cube (or atleast make a post about it)
Good luck to everybody and good night.
Edit. Forgot to mention that you can see ending elevator and some other parts of the map through the roof holes at the last room and near the companion cube. You might wanna fix that
Well, managed to solve 1.3, though I doubt in the intended way.
For the final move, I
create a ramp in room 3 that has only a tiny bit of blue at the end. To do this you first apply the blue gel, using the usual trick of slowing down the gel through its passage by the floor portal in room 4, slowed down to max. Then do the same with red gel but only releasing it somewhat earlier to cover most but not all of the blue. Only the last tile was still blue. Like this I was just able to get enough momentum to get to the top of last room, though only after a rebound on the blue gel deposited in the floor of last room
Is that really intended? Probably not...
Also finally managed to get the CC, I rembered the same trick that in Gather - though in that one I still have to find out how to use it get the CC, if that is related at all. To get out...well I always wondered what that tiny ledge was for...
Gj shakky
Nice to hear that you finally got it...
I know the map is leaking in detail... I was very lazy this time... It took a long time to get the puzzle to work and I had a very frustrating time with all the unintended stuff and some parts didnt want to work properly. In the end I was just happy to release it but I should have spent some more time to fix the visuals... I apologize for the lazyness.
I'll collect the issues and will update the map once more.
@yorgn
Nice move
Thats not intended... I can say that the solution is way cleaner... And if you find it you will definitely know that it is intended...
The CC isn't making the keypoint for the final move easier... So I decided that it doesn't matter if you can get it into the level. I hope this doesn't confuse you guys...
Based on few hints marKiu gave out this is the intended final move.
SElOt1yPzWQ
And here is my final review of the map. Great puzzle in everyway, great visuals even though there are few little things that you could still fix. Easily in my top 5 favourite maps. It took me forever to solve it but I enjoyed every moment. Also it was fun to find unintended solutions
So it's easiest 5/5 in a long time from me. I can't wait for your next.
@Shakky congratulations
I was sure that doing long jump like this is impossible and I haven't even tried that. I salute you
It seems like I have tangled in MarKiu's misdirection web
Solution I was currently working on included respawning both cubes after long jump. It will work if I only could manage to paint step in fizzler 4 button room blue. But it is probably impossible
Anyway, great map. I really dont like gels, so this is one of very few gel maps I have played after completing portal campaign and the only one I enjoyed
But dont want more of that. Looking forward to see some crazy laser puzzle or something. Cheers
@Shakky: just awesome... I figured that the button 4 area is where to get momentum, but thought i could do by bouncing floor-to-ceiling, which required me getting onto the high ledge, which I couldn't do. Never thought about approaching it from the other end so to speak.
@MarKiu: the only thing i don't get (or maybe just forgot given how much the map has to offer) - what's the point of the room next to the final area (with the portable ceiling)? Did it serve any purpose at all?
@negorro I'm pretty sure that was just to prevent you from getting stuck down at the last button. It is possible to shoot portal elsewhere also.
Woah tricky ending! The long jump with the ceiling bump must have been tough to find, I dont think I would have gotten that one. Cool map, shows off some interesting high level tricks you can do with gels. More please
Again thx guys for the feedback...
I really had mixed feelings when releasing this so I'm even more happy that you like it.
I'm done with gels ;D
I'll post a complete playthrough tomorrow and take a little break from mapping...
I was waiting for the complete solution.
I assumed it would be posted a few days ago, but I realize I was sadly mistaken.
Are you still intending to post up a video of it ?
TIA
Sorry for the late post guys! Here's the complete playthrough video.
xRIh9BUUuZE
It should be available soon.
The dirty-clean switch was not obvious at all.
But the cube-slide-bounce move at 6:10 . . . I can assure you almost no one would ever figure that out. I cannot believe you came up with that. Wow
Welllll.... That was weirid map. 90% of play time is repeating something that cn't be done within first try. Lots of trolling - evident false-solutions.
And that makes a huge difference from best johnatan's maps playthrough memoryes. Yep, may be there are some genius points in end solution, but it took two hours while other parts - one day.
Weirid repeating and reoads.
Was it actually hard? Heh, unsolvable point - staying on button and lookin to 4th room (without both fields). I felt there should be something, shot to some white stuff on floor but that angle was unfair enough not to investigate more.
All other parts were easy to figure out and kina impossible without speedhack.
About blue gel room - again, easy to understand that cube must fly in room (via floor blue gel etc) before entering room, but timing and preparations were too extreme to try them. First time i used random jumping cube in blue gel, 2nd - two portals under both gels (looks like bug, went thru cell and appeared in blue gel room already in yallow gel paint like some present
About end - it could be interesting if there were no trolling yellow paths which are good enough to have doubhts about asselerating with some angle
So:
-ha! map is not controller unfriendly, it is damn controller, human, and time killer
-it requres high-speed trick
-it consists very unrelilable ways
-it requres ninga-jumps and lots, lots of repeats
-it has good step-by-step solution and one very good idea which sadly doesn't costs all troubles
and 2nd idea which map could have - using two cube impact for getting one in blue gel area;
with that sort of idea and direct warning "controller unfriendly" (not "probably") map is one of best right after johnatan's

Good luck ninjas!
v1.1 removed multiple unintended solutions (Thanks to Jacu, Sicklebrick, Shakky and HeadShot)
v1.2 fixed more unintended solutions by shakky and Jacu
v1.3 fixed Jacus unintended solution for the end move.
