Description

My first "actual" map. It does have an objective to it but it's extremely simple - cube-on-button action. Start of something bigger. Also, I included the .vmf and feedback or remixing is appreciated. I also added a bonus.

The map is very short and looks glitchy. It's hardly possible to say that this map got an objective. Here is my blindrun on it:

The "bonus map" is even worse. One big room with only portable surfaces, that's pretty much it. No objective at all.

It's a shame that you call this an actual map.

@Djinndrache

Meh, my first shot , I'll try better next time and have a better objective. With a puzzle. Or more.

And the "bonus" wasn't really supposed to be a map.

Why do you deliver it then? It's a waste of people's time.

Also I don't understand why someone would release a map as soon as he created a button, a cube and a "door". What reaction do you expect from the players? In my opinion it's pointless to release a map which does not even have one single puzzle in it.

I think you can release maps with hardly a puzzle in it, but then the map should be outstanding quality.
I did watch your playthrough, but unfortunately it's not something I'd like to play.
The style of the map is quite ok though the map is a bit big textures are nicely on grid. So I think I'll give this a 2/5: cute, you tried to map.

Don't take this as offensive or something, just giving my feedback on the map. If you spent some more time on creating new puzzles I'd be happy to play it

Well, releasing this as Final Release rather than WIP is pathetic. Sorry.

I'm not posting random crap just to raise my post counter. Now I'm raising it to 1000, so what now? Do you give me cake for it?

@Djinndrache

Wait a second, how does it look glitchy? The only thing I found glichy was the panel.

Objects hanging in the air is not very realistic (see my blindrun video at ~0:15). Considering that the map is playable within 10 seconds and the player is spending a third of his run watching that glitchy thing, I'd say that this map glitchy.

You mean how the panel has no real base and that the box started out in hammer as it sitting in the air, right?

BQ: Should a map with 2 puzzles and a scene enough? Just asking, no map. Probably not after my map disasters.

yes, and the model is non-solid, that's strange too

Depends on the puzzles If it's press the button -> put the cube on the button diffiulty I'd say no. If the puzzle is more complex, I think it's possible

@lpfreaky90

Good because I'm making about three puzzles in separate rooms. They all have buttons. The first puzzle has a hard light bridge and a timed button. The second puzzle has lasers, turrets, panels, and some flinging may be involved. The last I didn't do yet but it might have crushers, panels, gel, some flinging, hard light bridges, lasers and possibly an excursion funnel.

BTW the reason I mostly put @<name> is because comments are long.

Looking forward to see your progress

I guess your right lol.

Anyway thank you. I want to try to work my best so I won't be the laughing stock or whatever funny puns people use today as an internet meme.

Well, this "map" is a good start but you should build a puzzle in it. I mean, you can use panels, buttons and sounds so in theory you can build much better chambers than this. Keep it up!
