It took me about 1 min to beat on my first play. I doubt I'll ever play it again. There were graphics glitches and the gameplay wasn't interesting. That could maybe be improved if it wasn't so incredibly short and actually involved a puzzle (and maybe a portal) or two.
1 point for trying something new.
I'm with taco on this one.. could do to be the start of something more substantial.
I enabled the flashlight to see if I'd missed anything... and the attention to detail was nice, so I'd like to see what else you come up with
I really liked the setting of this one. Could be the beginning of a nice adventure through old Aperture. Some issues:
Because of the light in the room with the armchairs that was the room I tried to go to first. The on-screen message kept telling me to go to the elevator controls first. But because of the darkness in the starting area I couldn't even see that there was another room. I finally found it by accident when I was running around. In the elevator controls room, there was some flickering on the left on the cabinets and on the right on the wall.
All in all, sure this is short, but it could be the beginning of a cool map pack. Good luck creating more!
This isn't much of a puzzle. It's like the first puzzle in Portal 1 when you just have to get the cube on top of the button to open the door. But, with that said I could see this map as a part of something bigger, like the beginning of a single player campaign.
ISSUES WITH THE MAP (IN MY OPINION)
Issues:
- You can't see the entrance to the elevator room until you've actually entered the room. I couldn't find it my first time playing
- You can throw up the power cell on the shelfs so that you'll get stuck
- What is the white paint for and why doesn't it leave a puddle of white paint?
- I think it's a bit restrictive that the player can't enter the second room without looking at the elevator door first...
- The elevator ride at the end is loooooong as hell and fades in and from black to white before ending the map
I can see this as a part of something bigger, but as a standalone puzzle it's pretty uninteresting...
Thank you very much for your honest opinion. This is my First attempt at a real map, So i wanted something to make it different from everything else.
i Will prob start mapping again when the new dlc comes out. cuz it will be easier to map out the simple stuff and then advancify it in Hammer
Seems interesting... Add some story and puzzles to solve to it and this could be good.
I would post my blind playthrough, but it consists of 10 minutes of not finding something to smash the glass. As the intro to something else, this might be OK, but on its own, it's just 2/5. Poor lighting, flickering textures need to be fixed.
This is different, but somehow I like it.
