All in all a very clean map and elegant in it's simplicity, not to say the puzzle is too difficult, it was a good level of difficulty overall in my opinion.

I almost slapped myself when I realised I could throw my cube at the button to drop the other cube. Nice job making a non-infuriating cube throw puzzle.

I think I circumvented the normal way of doing it (but it didn't allow me to complete the puzzle any easier, it merely sidetracked me).
I stood on top of the redirection cube and jumped into the Excursion Funnel lifting it up with me to get onto the button before I was supposed to.

Definitely a very well polished, albeit simple map, as part of a greater mappack or mod this would definitely shine, on it's own it seems to be a bit lacking however due to it only being one puzzle.

Well done. I look forward to more Doc.

Thanks for the feedback. I am glad that there is no blatantly obvious exploit posted yet.

Indeed, I also abhor cube tossing puzzles.

In fact, the player does not even need to throw the cube. Simply hold the reflective cube over your head and jump. I measured the dimension perfectly so this works every time.

I would appreciate some sort of solution video before I rate this, because the only way I could get it to be solved was spending 10-15 minutes throwing the cube to make it eventually land on the button. That didn't feel right, but you didn't make any other solution very clear.

What button?Dont leave any cube behind in the one room.Remember there is a portal in the room where you got the second cube when you come out.USe it to go back and get other cube.Once you have the cubes use the funnel with a portal up near the entrance to go over and drop a cube on the light bridge button

What button?

First room. I didn't even use the light bridge for that part, although I knew you could get up there with it, but considering you need a box up there and on the light bridge button, I just used the box + funnel to shove me and the box up there. What I tried doing was initially throwing the box from the light bridge button up to the upper area, but I couldn't see anyone designing a map with that in mind.

I solved the map, but I didn't solve it the way it felt it should have been solved.

EDIT: Also, you said "any cube." Was there a second cube in the first room I missed? I only saw one box dropper.

You need both cubes (weighted and reflective) to be in the larger chamber to solve the puzzle.

I could add a ledge to the exit room to make cube-throwing up there impossible.

I was throwing it from the excursion funnel pressing against the ledge. If you stand on a box in a funnel, it lifts you up quite a few feet. From here I could throw the box. After a while, it worked, but then I realized you could use the same method with a little footwork and actually get yourself and the box up there, totally avoiding the light bridge.

How is it supposed to be solved with the light bridge anyways? I know you can lay the portal under the bridge to get its necessary height, but I dropped that solution because I couldn't bring the box activating the light bridge with me. Maybe I missed something.

Once you are high enough, you can raise the cube and simply put the cube on the ledge. This way, the cube will not fall off when you are adjusting the position of the light bridge portal.

Alternatively, you can leave the cube on the light bridge source while adjusting the position of the light bridge portal. This way, adjusting the light bridge position would not cause you to drop the cube to the floor.

Anyone thinks this map is ready to come out of the beta release?

If you enter the second room without taking the reflectocube with you, it seems you are trapped forever. Or am I just stupid?

You are not stupid. You are totally right.

But I am hoping that the chance of it happening is small, considering the fact that the reflective cube automatically funnels into that room. The player would have to go out of his way to leave the cube behind.

Not really. There is a problem since the first button by the entrance is obvious, and the second cube dropper isn't. I got the first reflector cube (not realizing there is another cube) and put it on that button. Once the light bridge was activated I went to go exploring empty handed. Once I ended up in that second room though without the cube, that was it.

How are you moving around the cube on the light bridge if either you or the cube needs to remain put on the button activating the bridge?

EDIT: ROFL.I solved my problem and have a good suggestion. I never noticed the downwards area at the end of the funnel tunnel because it's so dark on my computer. I thought it was empty and just led to a white wall. I was trying to solve the map with just the funnel and one cube.

EDIT #2: Okay, now I solved it properly. As was said before, you might want to put some option to allow the player to get out of the second room - I left the reflectocube in there and noclipped it back. Otherwise, a clever puzzle. Just might want to put a little light into that tiny space so someone doesn't make the same mistake as I did. Heh.

Obviously, that's not the intended solution. The way I intend the player to solve it is to portal the funnel toward the button that activates the light bridge, but on the way there, the player will float past the switch button that drops the reflectocube. Pressing the button will (1)dissolve the reflectocube in the laser room; (2)drop a new reflectocube that will be automatically directed into the funnel, and (3)reverse the funnel direction again without using the weighted cube to block the laser.

As for the "tunnel" lighting, I thought it's reasonable to expect the player to know that there is a downward route because the player can see the laser chamber through the glass partition. Obviously, there is a way to get there, and the tunnel is the logical route.

I have released the final version of the map: Interception

I fixed several things based on the feedback I've received.

1. From the glass partition, the exit of the "tunnel" leading to the laser chamber is now clearly visible, so the player should not miss that chamber.

2. It is now impossible to get stuck in the laser chamber, because it is simply impossible to obtain the reflectocube before it gets automatically funneled into that chamber.

Thanks everyone.
