What you've uploaded is the raw editor file, if you want someone to test your map compile it for in-game use first and upload the *.bsp file.

You have got to be kidding me...

Guys, leave him alone. It's his first map. And he's obviously new to the website. I didn't even know about msleeper talking about deleting fullbright and playground maps until he told me about it.

Playground maps are not allowed.

If you need help, read my guide to uploading maps here.

Lostprophetpunk - In the future please us the "Report Download" button on the download page, not the "Report thread" button. Thanks.

You might want to get your eyes checked then. It's in a stick announcement, on the Release board. It is literally impossible to miss.

And I don't care if it's his first map, and if he has spent a grand total of 30 seconds in Hammer. We have quality standards for a reason.

That said, sirfluffs is right. Even the worst garbage is allowed in WIP because it's WIP for a reason. If this was in the Release then it would be removed.

The point is this guy was completely foreign to the website when he uploaded this map. Not everyone visits the Release board on their first visit. I didn't. I just wanted to share my creation with the world. I just don't like how peoples' first reaction to this guy (who has never used Hammer before) is "ZOMGORZ, TIS MAP SUCKZ!1!one READ TEH FORMS DERPFACE!!1!eleven!!1" It's a WIP, for cryin' out Pete! If I'm correct, Msleeper even said himself that playground maps are fine as long they are of sufficient quality.

I would suggest you have the rules displayed on the upload page in BOLD RED FONT, or the page where you register to the forums (or both). This would make a lot of sense and would probably help avoid situations like this.

Nope, sorry, not how it works. People deserved to get slapped down when they make their first map and blindly post it without reading any other threads.

This is a forum with rules. Ignorance of the rules, especially because you were too quick to upload your very first map instead of hanging out on the forums and reading them before posting, is no excuse for not following them. People who don't understand how forums work and don't read the stickies and rules threads need to get their shit together, because we don't care. I know you're super-proud of your first playground. We don't care.

I didn't use any report feature. =/

The only one I have used was on a thread ages ago.

Maybe if you guys would actually read the full thread on what msleeper had to say about the playground map's understand clearly and stop raging and the newbie.

If a "playground" map is of sufficient quality - and by that I mean, it's not a single box room with fullbright and 1 texture - then I won't have a problem with it. The ones that were removed were nothing more, or not much more, than that though.

EDIT
The goal is not to stifle creativity or make a "No Fun Allowed" rule; we want to make sure that visitors know that TWP will continue to have some of the best quality Portal 2 maps on the internet. I have full faith that one of our many talented community members could make a "playground" map, and make it look good.

In fact, consider that a challenge. Anyone who thinks they can make a playground map that is also a "high quality download", do your best. I dare you.

Given its a WIP you have no idea whether or not its going to be high quality, so as long as he keeps working on it, he should be fine, and if its high quality, like msleeper mentioned, then it wont be deleted, not ALL playground maps will be deleted, just the bad ones that are simply taking up space and show that someone should uninstall. So rather than being ignorant on this situation and needlessly pressuring the newbie with your troll-sounding comments, actually READ everything present.

That will be all, Thank you.
