Sorry to ruin it, but there was no "old ASHPD", there was the Aperture Science Portal Quantum Tunneling Device.

I know that it would not look like the one in the poster;i can't edit the model for the portal gun.

Nice, but i'm getting the pink and black checkers thing on the glass tube. Re-downloaded and made sure i had the current file, same problem again though.

Also after changing it back to the normal skin i've been having a few problems.
First is that the gun never lights up like it normaly does after shooting it (in the glass tube part and the little circle hole in the top of the gun), it just stays dark. And it looks like nothing comes out of the gun.
And second my crosshairs have gone, which is crap...

I'm not too tecky so i might be wrong, but i think these are the errors for the problems i found in the developer console:

Unable to load sprite material materials/sprites/gunsmoke.vmt!
Unable to load sprite material materials/sprites/bubble.vmt!

I looked in materials folder and theres no sprites folder in it. Also searched for the files, there're gone.

This has all happened after installing your download, so is there something in it which could have caused these things? And how do i fix it? I need some advice because i don't really know what i'm doing, and it is almost certainly your download which has caused it.

EDIT: I have fixed the crosshair problem. Something changed the crosshair value to 0 so i changed it back to 1.

Out of interest, if anyone CAN make a model for the ASPQTD I'd be very grateful - I kinda need one for a mod I'm planning over summer, and I don't particularly want to learn to model. Especially as a one-man mapping team :/

Also, what do you think the colours (or colors if you're American) for the old gun would be? I wouldn't change much, but they would definitely be simpler - nmaybe paler? And without the particle effect around the edges? Certainly, a closed portal wouldn't have a moving effect on it. I think that would show a change in the technology well enough.

And I think there was a gun in Half-Life which vaguelly looked a bit like that...
