Description

Re-worked map from the chain series Withdrawal Symptoms. NOW UPDATED V2 TO REMOVE SOME GLITCHES AND MAKE SLIGHTLY HARDER / EASIER DEPENDANT ON MIND SET. Wanted to attempt to modify the map in order to make tyronis not complete it within 30 seconds each time!!! So here is the official attempt. I will look into making the map harder and harder to complete. where eventually i hope to make it near on impossible unless you are mad and insanely talented at shooting quickly, or doing insane portal flips like this person has proven to be... Best of luck to all who try it. The first jump is a hard one, and careful of the few traps.

hopefully it will keep you busy trying to speed run it.. where you undoubtedly will beat it quickly eventually..

ill get back to continuing 005 until then!

The cube fizzles portals eh?
Well that got rid of one bug I suppose...
I did however find 1 or 2 more but can't upload em atm. Will later/tomarrow.

Aside from the air-strafing you need to do in order to get to the button, I thought it was a fun, challenging map. Maybe it's just me, but I'd think you could add this to your map pack. That is, if you want another "try anything twice approach" map. Or you could replace the current version, either way, great map.

I really like the changes compared to the last version of this map. Good direction you go there!

i think i've already noticed what grave error i have made tyronis.. however, i've been thinking on how to make it a little harder. ill release it soon :p

re-worked. Hopefully taking out some of the glitches you may have done already.

updates:

- Removed glitch where cube only removed 1 set of portals. now correctly removes every portal every time you pick it up.
- Changed map slightly to accommodate glitch removal.
- Fixed issue of laser catching you on jump. Moved slightly away from wall.
- Fixed issue of sometimes heavy landing on side wall after glitch causing death due to trigger point being just under place of landing. Raised wall to accommodate.


Thinking on making this a "try twice" approach to map as difficulty of level increased a touch, and removal of some speed run approaches. hopefully updates solve some issues you may have raised tyronis.

29.7 seconds, Challenge Completed.

Also included some minor bugs I found. This map is pretty close to unexploitable.

Re-worked.

Bug #1 - i noticed that when i first created it, but it gives no aid into completing level.
Bug #2 - although stupid to do, i have fixed

Updates:
- Added portal placement helper in button room near exit to ensure placement goes to center of room, this also removes (while including 2 extra anti portal walls) bug #2 happening
- Added a extra wall to stop first jump (slowing process of map down, and putting it closer to intended route
- Added timers at end room to show roughly (30,40,50 seconds) how long you took to complete the map

I must admit, for Map 5, I do not like it when every time I pick up the cube, all portals vanish.
Is the only reason for doing that to cause ONE player to not complete the map in under 30 secs ?

You two are locked in a separate personal challenge that has nothing to do with the quality of the map as a whole. If it does make the map more interesting then fine - I am not sure.
But the important thing is - GREAT JOB ON THIS Series of Maps !!

P.S. even with the portals vanishing, you can still push the cube through instead of picking it up.
I assume that is needed for the solution because I had to do that to get through it.

shoot portals underneath the cube.

Removing the ability to handle the cube, but instead use portals to move the cube around i found to be a unique concept and liked it enough to keep it in the map.

As i had a few people mention to me in PM's and on this topic, i decided to add this map into the series while changing it slightly (e.g safty the wall stride with a clip pointing out slightly more than the wall actually shows.. this allows the player to instead of jumping around, just walk out of the portal slowly to fall into that room.)

Yes, this was a personal challenge to create a map which tyronis couldnt complete in under 30 seconds. But it turned out to be a decent increase in difficulty from the origonal map. If it was not decent enough, i wouldnt have released it into the series i currently have running

Cheers for the feedback though. any comment good or bad i look at and take onboard
