Description

A Portal 2 work in progress single player test chamber focusing on hard light bridges and the different ways they can be used. I currently have four test chambers done, and my current plan is to make sure these four are fun and play well, and then detail them and clean them up for submission to the Summer Mapping Initiative contest. Nice map. I think that I solved the 2nd chamber with an exploit though (although it may have been harder than the intended solution ). I used the 'self-fabricated momentum' (shoot two portals on the floor, shoot the same portal I fly through in exactly the moment I pass it again to gain momentum) tactic to get some velocity on the flat floor with the large portal surface, then quickly shot a portal at the angled portal surface to fling over to the area with the laser cube. I grabbed the cube, put it on the light bridge, shot a portal on the area left of the light bridge, shot another portal on the area above the angled surface and aimed the laser with the cube so it activated the laser activator to open the door. I then went back to the flat floor, flung myself to the exit door and shot the portals in exactly the same spots I had tested before. Door open, I went through. Didn't use the timed portal surface the button activates at all. Bit complicated to explain.

Small problem is that the laser cube in the second chamber doesn't respawn if you lose it so you need to start over.

Whoops, thanks for catching that with losing the cube in the 2nd chamber, I'll need to fix that.

As far as I can tell, your solution is pretty much the same as the intended one except that you used the reportal glitch instead of the timed panel. It's not particularly gamebreaking, so I'm not going to worry about that now.

I'm pretty sure I got both solutions as the intended solution.Unless I am mistaken, both maps are time-limited puzzles. The first where you have to get to the light bridge source before the cube drops, and the second where you need to get over the ground before the middle panel rotates back.

I think you did a good job on these puzzles, although I myself am a fan of state-based logical step-by-step solutions that place no time constraints.

The puzzles we good though, and the maps looked pretty .

New release with a rather large new test chamber!

I would love it if some of you recorded Source demos of yourselves playing the map for the first time. A few people from TF2Maps.net have been doing that for me and it's really useful playtesting feedback.

first 2 rooms are bery nice and the 3th too i think but you can cheat it. just make an light bridge to the end. no need of anything else in the room

Wow, thanks for catching that! How stupid of me to leave that in. I think I'll put a fizzler over the gap before the exit platform so you can't have the light bridge extended there and just walk through there.

New test chamber, after the 2nd and before the last. Several playtesters simply got stuck on the last chamber because I think I attempt to introduce too many new techniques at the same time. The new chamber should be more straightforward, and I hope it trains players better for the final chamber.

I started playing custom maps and record me playing them. It's neither a perfect run nor do I have to have solved the map in the way it's meant to solve it. I play the maps "blind", that means I've never been in them before and play them for the very first time. I also give a little feedback for the map in the video description.
