On a related note, who here remembers River City Ransom, also on NES? That game was so damn awesome I can hardly stand it. It puts a smile on my face every time I play it, even after 15 years. Now that's a game.

Hmm dont remember that game, what about Earthbound, one of the hardest freakin games to buy for the Super Nintendo now.

Obviously you have never played Mega Man, or you wouldn't have the chutzpah to make such criticisms. The things you point out are all intentional, especially the enlarged pixels. That didn't happen by accident. Creating this in photoshop took lots of guidelines, grids, and patience.

Your avatar is very nice. The colors are clear and even-toned, like in a cartoon. I can only assume it looks like you do in real life. I don't like the white outline and then the black box. The black box should go, since it doesn't really serve the avatar or the composition, and it looks a little out of place in every table element where it appears. You wouldn't have that problem with some other shape of border, or if you used transparency. 8/10.

Edit: Mr.2VC's avatar looks like a cyborg's nipple. Which makes me smile.

I actually don't find the pixelated nature of Paul's avatar in the least bothersome. Given that avatars are, outside this thread, overwhelmingly only perceived peripherally, the bold colors and large areas make it very recognizable.

And, as Paul said, it fits the source material.

Holy cats, I didn't even realize my long-lost brother was on these boards. But then, when I get nostalgic I go back and play 1 & 2. Honestly I thought the enemies in Mega Man 3 were kinda weak. Yeah, the singing elites are good. But I figure if you're going to have a few frames animated for the notes, the electric baton should be waving around or something too, imo.

My avatar I adapted from a Russian drum and bass mix called Pirate Station. I did a little hue/brightness/contrast adjustment to change it from a bright yellow to this green. So now it's my logo, probably for a while.

iamafractal - awesome pic, looks like a WCC as everyone else said, the colours are great the blue glow is really nice - 8/10

The disembodied head kind of creeps me out. I think it's the fact that I can see the hair hanging down from the backside of the head, reinforcing the fact that there is no neck.

Also, the top and bottom of the eyeballs extending significantly beyond the frame of the glasses is a little disconcerting.

Regarding my own avatar, as flattered as I am that it's being associated with Magritte, it's actually just because I really like hats (real ones, not baseball caps), and wear them frequently. ^_^

^ That hat totally makes me think of merry poppins for some reason. WTF?
