A small and difficult map, inspired by "fizzler network" puzzles like Seven Gates and Gridlock. Note that there are two types of glass- the one with crossed pattern blocks lasers.

Also, I've currently uploaded to the TWP database so that Mac users can play it (they have issues with workshop maps as far as I know) and also because I can't access Steam community at the moment.
I will upload to the workshop and post the link in this description later.

INSTALLATION

Extract sp_trifurcated_v1_7.bsp to

* Steam\steamapps\common\portal 2\portal2\maps (Windows)
* ~/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/portal 2/portal2/maps (Mac)

THANKS TO

  • Jonatan for his continued playtesting, breaking the map several times during the process, and also for a few suggestions on how to tweak the puzzle. In large part due to his playtesting, the map underwent several (some major) modifications.

  • Marc (marKiu) for trying it out and coming up with some more unintended solutions during the initial stages of the map development (before any substantial modifications), and giving suggestions regarding the layout.

  • Jose for his feedback on the final version prior to release and some useful advice.

  • zivi7, Habzs, etc. for helping out on TWP IRC.

Firstly, what an awesome map! I definitely needed to draw a map of this thing. With 13 rooms and 4 moving objects (plus portals) there is a massive configuration space.
I found a solution which Xtreger tells me is almost completely unintended. I decided to keep my ending under wraps for the time being but you can see the setup here:

I'll release an update attempting to remove the unintendedness soon. The map was broken a lot during playtesting and I think it will be broken a few more times again.

Updated to version 1.1

There were still some problems with v1.1 which have now been corrected.

Thanks to grayarea for pointing out some more unintended stuff, which should hopefully not be possible now.

Updated to version 1.3

Ok here's my full solution for the latest version!
I haven't heard back from Xtreger so I have no idea how close this is to the intended solution but I feel like it's good enough. This was possibly the hardest map that I've tried to solve. Partly because there are so many possibilities and indeed I found a few more solutions even for v1.3 but they did not feel as legit as this one.
In general I had a lot of fun playing with ideas in this map even if they didn't lead to a solution. I have a bag full of evil tricks that I might keep to myself and use in a future map of my own.

Firstly, here's the video. You may notice some breaks between sections of play.

One of the reasons this took me so much time is that I had convinced myself that a cube must be placed on 33-button first, then the 3-button and finally the square-button. I have a few alternate solutions which work in this way but they are too quick and precise to be intended (I believe).
I had thought that activating the square-button before the 3-button was impossible but it turns out that it can work.

My apologies... there were a bunch of tests so I was busy.

@grayarea
Brilliant solution again! Seems like you're taking revenge for Encode

It is completely unintended except for the ending. Anyway now it is clear that there should be one cube on square and one on dot3.

Before releasing the next update, I want to ask whether making the portalable surface in the corner, which you used, unportalable would block your solution till the ending part. I'm having doubts if such a small update would be effective...
If it does, I'll simply change that surface and put up the next version.

Thanks all. I kind of feel like the revenge is going the other way Xtreger!
If you mean the part where I have the cube oscillating through floor portals, then no this would be hard to block. Any portable floor that can see the 21 catcher is suitable in fact I just checked that I can use only the floor in the laser room. I'll send you the demo.

Also I'm a bit confused (again!). You said my solution is completely unintended except for the ending but you only want to block my ending?

@grayarea: Oh now I see. I meant in my previous post that the absolute ending trick was intended.
But the alt demo you sent me is exactly what I intended.

Also the alt2 demo is a very good alternative and there is no need to block that.

See your inbox; I sent you a response to one of your previous demos, since you asked whether it was intended.

I have a feeling this will be solved soon enough now...

Ok so if I now understand you:
My last trick in the video was intended.
My second last trick was not, but has now been improved to the intended and a valid alternative.
All the previous tricks are unintended, however. That's at least 80% of the puzzle. Are you planning to block any of those? Otherwise it's very hard to imagine what needs to change...

While I was fumbling around in the dark trying to think how to make my solution better, I found a way to make it a whole lot crazier instead. Here's an alternative beginning:

Anybody else who's played it and had any progress? Or any feedback?
