Light_environment failure!! black sunshine from the skybox
Posted Jan 23, 2014
okay, so previously I had no problem getting adequate light in an outdoors map, but that luck died out and now I have pitch black darkness cascading over the landmass with small portions of actually lit grass and trees.
Im gonna take a guess and say I broke the map or that I inputted some incorrect parameters. You tell me, cause IDK.
and FYI, the map and screenshot is available here. Part 2 is where the issue is and it is not complete. post103221.html#p103221

Did you added any light (except environment) to that place?

I already have one and for some reason it has a strange effect. All models are semi-illuminated but nearly all brushes come out black

Hmm, try to recreate a part of the map, and if that also doesnt help, send me the recreated vmf (not the original map) and i can check what is wrong,

Do you have a skybox? If yes, is there any object in the skybox where the skycam is, so it would cast a shadow through the skybox into the real map?

the shadows of the objects in the skybox are cast in the opposite direction. What I am noticing is LITERALLY every world brush and displacement is being affected. func_detail, skybox and models are being lit up correctly.
EDIT: after breaking down the displacements, they became properly lit up and the world brushes followed. I don't want to have to reform the ENTIRE fricken terrain, but it looks like that is what is going to happen
