Ok, so I found a portal 2 in game editor without the dlc2 (PETI)
But the only downsides are: You cant make paint dispensers and its really hard to learn** (i got the hang of it at least)

Find it here: http://portal2.gamebanana.com/gamefiles/2613
NOTE1:If you spawn npcs like the hover turret from the console, it will stay in the map.
NOTE2:If you want to test your map
press the key "F11" press it again to edit (make sure you save your map before you test!)**
NOTE3:If you want to save your map, pause and press save game.
Also vote if you want this to be more recognized by anyone**
THE POLL LASTS 2 MONTHS**
**RE VOTING ALLOWED**

You know what's better? Hammer. Sorry, but this looks useless. I can't even see a purpose to using this in conjunction with Hammer. Once again, sorry, but I voted no. I can see that it's an interesting concept, but as a user it seems impractical and clunky.

You should really persist with Hammer. You have no idea how much it sickens me when I see people toddling off to PTI after saying "Hammer's too difficult." Well, it's only difficult if you don't try. I know you mentioned having already tried tutorials, have you perchance looked at TopHattWaffle's tuts? IMO they're the definitive tutorials for mapping.

this looks very similar to the portal 1 level editor from back in the day. But yea; hammer is way better. and imo the pti is better than this too.

Because you have a pirated copy, or for some other reason?

I remember using this bad boy back in the day, before the PTI came out and when I didn't know hammer.
I made a ton of maps with it, all of them now listed as savegames. Unfortunately by giving them names I corrupted them.

While it is less efficient than the PTI or Hammer by a long shot, it was good fun when there was no alternative. It's what got my interest into mapping.

You know, I might decompile that map, just to see how much logic is involved.

I've used this before PTI with my friend, and it's actually quite cool, but it's temporary, and can only be used for simple maps.

The Portal 2 Map Editor, or P2EDIT, is completely impractical for map making. It is extremely clunky, painful to navigate, and simply harder to use than Hammer in almost all respects. Even more difficult is actually playing maps made with it; to such an extent that very, very few people would realistically play a map made with this - regardless of it's quality, hence defeating the purpose of mapping in the first place. P2EDIT is in fact so worthless (especially since the introduction of the Perpetual Testing Initiative) that the developers of this mod have even archived the ModDB page for it.

TL;DR: Would not endorse the use of this to anyone. Puzzle drafting or legitimate map creation alike.

No, I don't have a pirate copy, I don't even know how to do that stupid dum turrent thingy. Plus I don't want to lose my steam account. The dlc didn't come with the game and I cant seem to get it manually. I had it before, but I got a error. And that's the last I remember of it.

I'm not sure I believe that, but have you tried verifying your cache while connected to the internet?

If you delete the game and redownload it through steam, it will download the most recent build of the game; which will include dlc2.

One thing that I DID like about po2edit was that starting in the mock void allowed more creative freedom than the PTI starting room. That sounds odd, but what I mean is that you feel a little less limited in the structure of the map. The PTI starting room makes it a little harder to get the idea juices flowing. I don't know, maybe (probably) it's just me that feels that way.

It shouldn't be used for map making, but it's quite fun just moving around and changing things.

I find this usefull to test physics in portal 2 BEFORE making the maps.

Testing physics? I dont know which physics i should test. If a cube doesnt fall down like i want to, i can use trigger_push'es, clips, magnets etc.
