There's just been an earthquake in the north of England, and I was in it First experience of one, at least when I've been awake. Happened about 5 minutes ago. The room was shaking, the lights were swinging, and it looked like my PC tower was dancing. Anyone else felt it?

Reports coming in of it being felt in Newcastle upon Tyne, Manchester, Leeds and Coventry

Yep, I felt it too. I'm in Lancashire. I didn't know for sure that it was an earthquake until I read your post, but I wondered what the hell it was

First time is always strange, because basically, this is by far one of the most powerful thing that can happen. When it starts, it seems that there's a huge explosion somewhere, as the ground shakes and a constant rumble sound can be hear. Just like infinite thunder. It was strange for me too.

Since I live near a flight path for a nearby airport, I first though that a plane was crashing.

Lol, always when there's an earthquake near my home, I'm either asleep or gone... one time we spent our holiday in Spain when there was an earthquake in the Netherlands, that was too bad...

Same with good weather, it's always here when I'm gone, but when I return, it goes away and the rainclouds return...

mum woke up, but I slept though.
It must have been really weak because I had a deoderant can perched right on the edge of the chair in my room and it was still standing in the morning.

anyone know what was the cause?
