Another leaker

 Okay, I've got a leak in the map I'm entering in the OCT 2010 contest
(although there's so much crap wrong with it I probably can't post it)

The Major thing is that I've got a strange leak that, when point-filed, draws a line literally THROUGH
a wall I built. I've tried everything, from deleting the wall & making a new one to making the entire wall (this is one of those random-metal-block walls) into a func_detail, and even a func_brush. NOTHING WORKS!!!
the pointfile consistently just goes to the middle of a block of it, DIAGONAL THROUGH A WHOLE BUNCH OF THEM, and out the other side through the middle of another one

Also, I'm getting this:

FindPortalSide: Couldn't find a good match for which brush to assign to a portal near (3157.0 2048.0 1060.0)
Leaf 0 contents: CONTENTS_SOLID
Leaf 1 contents:
viscontents (node 0 contents ^ node 1 contents): CONTENTS_SOLID
This means that none of the brushes in leaf 0 or 1 that touches the portal has CONTENTS_SOLID
Check for a huge brush enclosing the coordinates above that has contents CONTENTS_SOLID
Candidate brush IDs:

and when I go to those coordinates, it's a million miles away from any brush or entity or anything

Any Ideas on how to fix this fatal flaw?
I just don't want 2 MONTHS OF WORK to go to waste.

The wall your leak is getting through, is most probably not a brush itself but a brush entity (func_detail for example).

Ensure that wall is a word brush!

ONLY world brushes seal worlds. Ie brush entities and displacements DO NOT seal. This also includes brushes with see-through textures (Windos, inv, clip, hint, etc)

A way to check is on your right, there is a small box, unselect everything exept for brushes and nodraw brushes. This will show up only sealing brushes. And then your hole would appear. (You need to tick everything back on for it to show up and compile)

It may be an entity origin. Go to edit select all and check for the presence of a ghostly blue orb where the leak is.

The wall is/was probably a func_detail. Only world geometry can seal maps, and your changing it to a func_detail and a func_brush would have only compounded the error.

Also, like omni said, check for origins of entitys outside the map.

One more thing: check that the wall in question doesn't have glass or grating or anything like that on one of its sides.

Even when there's a glass texture on a brush side that is covered by other world brushes or facing the void, it can still make the brush volume non-solid and cause a leak.

I think it's any brush with a transparent texture, right?

Thanks, But I fixed the leak & dropped out of the contest.
I was only fooling myself to think I could compete with pros like nunamedragon, Omnicoder, or the other people in the contest. My map had too much crap wrong with it to fix by Dec.7.

:_( How does one delete a thread?

Can't unless you're a Mod, Global Mod, or admin, I believe. Even if you started it. No need to delete it, though.

The only reason to delete a thread is to hide how stupid you look. Or something. We don't delete stuff around here.
