How to use Source Recorder?

Hi guys. I wanna figure out Source Recorder. Now I know HOW it works, but I have a few problems:

A. I do it the normal method (demos -> record demos) but this is way too laggy and a long demo takes an hour or more to finish. Is there a way to speed up recording without desyncing anything? Also, is this the only way to keep it synced?

B. I record straight from playing. Fixes the lag problem but then the video is way sped up, and desyncs with the audio. Is there a way to slow it down, with this method?

C. I want to try and keep B an option, so is there a (preferably free) program that lets you slow down videos? (NOT 2X slower, I mean lets you choose how slower it goes, like a music editor and how fast a song plays.)

D. What is the best Codec to record from, in terms of quality and syncing?

Thanks for your answers in advance.

Just use the ingame recorder instead of an external one. I think the command is avidemo <name>.

Realize that the the source recorder is laggy in portals, that is when you go inside one. Also, sometimes the fizzlers do not appear

Yeah I noticed that too. It's got multiple layers for the "infinite portals" look when you make two of them facing eachother, this is what causes it to glitch a bit.
