I have a personal playlist in iTunes that consists out of 30 songs, no less, no more. Whenever I have a new song I dig, an old song must be thrown out of the list. That's how I keep it refreshing. Oh, and put it on random, of course.
Music!

Stone Roses sounds familiar but I place any of their songs. Were they popular in the 80's or 90's?

Dunno when they were 'hot', I have music in my playlist from several decades (Billy Idol with 'Rebel Yell' is also in there). As long as it sounds good, I don't care when it was made and what genre it is.
By the way, some of the songs of The Stone Roses include 'I Wanna Be Adored' and 'Love Spreads'. If I recall correctly, 'She Bangs The Drums' was also one of their songs, but I'm not sure about that one...

I agree, it doesn't matter how old it is as long as it sounds good.
I looked up those songs you mentioned, I like them. Thanks for the tip.
Here is an excerpt from my music folder:
Alestorm
Arch Enemy
Autopsy
Cannibal Corpse
Carnifex
Children of Bodom
Dying Fetus
Ensiferum
Equilibrium
Korpiklaani
Milking the Goatmachine
Napalm Death
Necrophagist
I also like to listen to game soundtracks (HL2, Portal, World of Goo, Machinarium) and Ludwig van Beethoven.
Currently listening to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qNMQAqdc ... re=related (Awesome
)
Otherwise I listen to game soundtracks, mod soundtracks, remixes of songs, etc.
EDIT: also orchestral remixes and 8-bit songs/remixes.
Game soundtracks
Korpiklaani
Thot
The Hamster alliance
Random vocaloid things
Sometimes i listen tro steampunk.
...Did I mention thot?
Mostly game soundtracks, they seem to be the best non-voice songs.
I do like some remixes too, and some mash-ups and really good, like this guy's stuff:

(Are youtube bars broken? Can't seem to get them to work...)
I expected that Tikimon's theme would crush the more serious sounding effect of Quadraxis's theme, but they blend quite well in this piece.

No, they are fine.
You should only put this bit into the youtube tags: watch?v=0eS7xXY1QGo
Not the whole thing.
Coldplay
MUSE
The Arrogant Worms (hilarious Canadian band, search them on youtube)
Genesis and Supertramp, a lot of other classic rock too
Daft Punk
Dj Tiesto
Metric
Aphex Twin
And you may not have heard of this one
R.a.M. Land

In terms of classical music I like mostly Beethoven and Bach, I can recognize their styles even if I haven't heard the piece before - like the harpsichord song Wheatly plays in that one testchamber I instantly knew it was Bach.
I'm really into game and mod soundtracks too, in fact, I write soundtracks for mods (and I hope to one day write soundtracks for games). I go by the name Vertigo Fox, and if you're interested you can hear some of my work at http://www.myspace.com/snowfoxden. I also have a page on soundcloud http://soundcloud.com/diamond-paw. (Diamond paw is a reference to the most common - and probably most infamus - enemy from Descent 2, the Diamond Claw. It used to be my alias until I decided I needed something that could be understood by people outside the niche community that still plays Descent).
Anyhoo, one of my favourites up first, The Cat Empire. Ska/jazz/latin band from Australia, who have created some amazing songs. As is, I am of the opinion that their earlier stuff is superior to the later, more melodic stuff. 3aiPuDjkyxk
Enter Shikari make the best music to be psyched up by, honest to god. A mix of dubstep, hardcore punk, metal and prog rock is the best I could describe it. While they're energetic and hardcore punk-ish, they blend it with a concept album type idea, with serious themes to most of their songs. (Listen to the included song if only for the intro. Masterpiece) qKUYE-mABjU
Finally, some hipster band called Japandroids, that are a shoegaze/punk two piece. However, incredibly rich guitar sound, with nice chords and energetic drumming. There's some vocals there so you can sing along. Probably the best guitar sound I've ever heard (when they perform live, he goes through several amps, including a bass amp, and a fuckload of effects).bnJn2Rh3ki8

My music tastes are pretty much all over the board at this point in my life. I listen to a lot of indie rock but that's not to say it's the ONLY shit that I listen to.
Mhmm, I only really posted the ones I listen too a lot. I have Bob Dylan and The Prodigy in the same playlist. I'm so avant garde

EDIT: spoiler'd.
Ac/DC
Soundgraden/Audioslave
Bowling For Soup (serious feel good band)
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Pink Floyd
Jethro Tull
Foo Fighters
La Roux
The Mad Capsule Markets
Elbow
A whole ton worth of 80's stuff
System of A Down
Pearl Jam
HammerFall
and Rage Against The Machine never leave me for too long
Oh and I have to have my Primus
Other than that I listen to almost everything. Try anything once just not dance, trance, house or any of the other sub-genres. Good quality rap and Hip-Hop is always welcome.
