Map has been finalized and released in the contest thread. This thread can be kerploded/trashed/locked or whatever happens to obsolete WIP threads.

========================
This is my map for the contest. It has requisite three puzzle areas, but with a slightly different approach. Find out what happened in the previous Chamber 16!

Screenshots:

0.1.2 Changes
* Fixed puzzle 3 workaround.
* Fixed puzzle 2 glitch that threw players out of the world.
* Added challenges and challenge display at end.
* Fixed purple glare in certain reflections.
* Added minor easter eggs.
* Packed files into bsp for easier installation.

I accidently moved this to the Trash Bin.

Looks good though, can't wait to play!

Awesome map. I'm not sure if I finished the last puzzle right though...

is the ball on the rope just a distraction? I ignored it...
Also, in the room with the flinging puzzle, if you jump down to where all the lift-pipes are, and put both portals on the wall... theres no way to get back up to where all the pieces of the wall are where you need to fling from, unless I just didn't see it.

Crappity crap. I forgot a rather vital file in the zip archive last night. If you've already downloaded it, grab this file and put it in your maps directory where the bsp is.

If you haven't downloaded it yet, the zip file now contains it.

Also, yes, the ball is used for the intended solution of the last puzzle.

Right after you maneuver those crushing pillars and fetch the orb, I get to an area where I'm supposed to reach a ledge on the high place. I travel around and search for a good spot to fling from, and I manage to create a pretty descent fling height, but it's not enough to reach the ledge. Later (while typing this) I stumbled across a possible solution. Are you supposed to gather momentum from the scaffolds standing at different heights?

Also, the sounds didn't play for me.

That flinging puzzle was pretty cool. I'm also not sure I solved that the way it was intended, but my solution involved portal tunneling down in that room with all the lift pipes

Ok, I give up, how do you get out of the first room?

Was this even with putting that text file in your maps directory?

Silly Ralph. Figure it out! It is a very simple solution, you're trying to make it a lot harder than it is, I'd imagine. I don't want to keep telling everybody the solutions (that I found). Have some fun and figure it out

Here is how I beat the ball part.

I placed the cube on the button that makes the platform extend, then when it was extended about 2/3 of the way. I put a portal on the wall above it, put the cube on the door button, then jumped onto the platform. I could jump the rest of the way. I would suggest making the left wall non-portalable. Or am I doing it the right way?

Guitar, you are correct in that method isn't the intended way. I'm probably going to move the destination ledge back a little.

I solved the last room the same way as Guitar, years of FPS jump puzzle indoctrination will take a while to be eroded by thinking with portals.

Haha, yeah, that's why I didn't catch that. I'm so busy coming up with portal puzzles I forget that people can actually jump. ;P

btw, i've done this twice already, but there's a floor across
the slime pit that's portable. if you stick a portal on the first floor panel
leaning against the wall and just attempt to walk through, you fall through
the map and just keep falling....

Nice map, with some platform elements and some decent problem solving.

The ball puzzle was very unique, as was the slime floor, kudos!

The ending elevator did not disconnect me however D:

very creative puzzles, i really like the ball catcher puzzle, a lot of thinking involved in every room, but i think the first room took me the longest. lol.

The first room took me a while, and then after a while i decided to see what happened when i fell into the hole of the elevator... AND WATTA YAH KNOW!

I love the variaty of detail that was used in this map, VERY well done and it gave me a few ideas for my maps... i'm not stealing just using textures that i didn't know the game had heh.

5/5 in everything.

Updated the map. See OP for details and download. Also, since I packed most of the map assets into the bsp, please let me know if you have any problems with missing textures or if the voice clips don't play.

EDIT: Ok, found that I can't pack the menu images into the bsp, which means next zip will be back to extracting from the portal directory instead of maps.
