The ONE wiki thread
I propose to continue, we have another poll, to see if users want a wiki, or a form of tutorial/article posting service

I don't think that's really necessary.
No matter what I think we're using the wiki software. And from the recent thread of discussion I get the impression no one much minds it being not exactly a wiki but more of an article hub sort of thing.
In essence, the only things that need to be done, if no one objects, is a very slight reorganization of the main wiki page to accommodate this decision, and to get started writing articles.

I could help out with the main page. I made the Mob footer template for the Minecraft Wiki. I'd imagine the front page could look similar, but suited to a more page-like style.
The community does not want to use external non-affiliate sites in this process, and are drawn between affiliating and creating it ourselves.
As there are not many wikis that would affiliate, I propose we go ahead with our own wiki, with the sole intention to make it a tutorial section.
Next step, do users on the forums sync with wiki users? And should any protections be added to ensure the wiki is not bot spammed?

Right now this is a no, and quite frankly I have no idea how I'd go about doing such a thing.

I'm open to suggestions.

fairdo's. I only wondered, seeing as creating a download database is quite the feat
as for suggestions, I'd say, all pages locked unless the user is autoconfirmed. as it's not a large community project, we should know our users on there, rather than let IPs edit.

If y'all don't mind waiting a couple weeks, when I'm done with the file database I might be able to cook up some home-grown article editing pages that only certain privileged (read: not spammer) users will be able to access.
I think the wiki software could potentially be the solution, but it would require a lot of work to get it just right.

I love killing spam.
Check it now and tell me if I miss anything.
I've made the wiki whitelisted for now. The only people who can edit are admins (equiv of mods I think), bureaucrats (administrators), and developers (me). If people express interest in editing the wiki I will promote them to admins.
