If we change to mAL, we'll have to change every picture and video with a landmark on it. But, mAL might sound more...attractive? it's a shorter name so it's easier to remember.

After the heartfelt goodbye we had to mAL, I suggest we leave it in the past where it belongs. We've moved on from it in the same way that Nick moved on from us. I'm not looking back.

I'm inclined to agree with Sven. We laid the old site to rest and told the world (well, I did) that mAL was dead.

Well, I just discovered myApertureLabs when it was already dead. I've seen a lot of maps/stuff of myApertureLabs, but then you guys decided to start again in myApertureInnovations, with new stuff, new logo, new environment. Actually, it looks very good, and it's good to have a "refresh" of myApertureLabs. So, I vote for keep myApertureInnovations

I also agree with Sven. mAL died, and we built from it's ashes a new site to handle all of our portally needs. To go back to it is to make this entire venture pointless. While I am happy (read: ESTATIC) that we have all the old files, and we shouldn't forget our origins, mAL needs to stay in the past. We've moved on.

Which brings up the question: what actually happened to mAL? One day I tried to view the site and it just...wasn't there.

The data based crashed for some reason around July 2011 and Nick didn't try to fix it (if I remember correctly), then after a while the forums were unstable and finally crashed too. For a while mAL's community was only alive on Steam. One day in April 2011, some people brought up the subject of reviving mAL and here we are.

I voted that we still be innovations.

mAL was a Portal mapping community while mAI is a Portal theme clubhouse.

If you mean the message "It's been fun, don't come back" that replaced the forums, I took the liberty of taking the forum itself offline until P2P acquired it.

I didn't want to see the old place fill up with spam. I hate spam.

Well, I left the poll open for 7 days but the result seems clear.

I personally voted for going back, for the sole reason that I don't want to be paying for 2 domains every year

I get the logic of and otherwise agree with keeping the new name, however. Nick told me today that the files are all uploaded (hooray!) and he'll work on getting the relevant info from his database backup soon. In the meantime, I'll make a temporary way to browse the files so that we can still benefit from the content.

If money is a problem, then I'd be perfectly content with mAL. But otherwise, I think that since we're our own new community with our own identity we should keep our own name.

When it's about to expire I'll be happy to buy it off of you.

as with PP, I voted to go with mAL. it just, rolls off the tongue. mAI was nice and all, but it still feels like it's filler, even though it's a very nice upgrade from mAL.

So he can use that domain to link to TWP so he can get more traffic. There is a lot of old mAL links left on the internet.

Which is why I vote for using mAL

There really should be a 301 redirect set up from mAL to mAI or vice versa.
