Yay, We are back up. Now I can upload my TF2 map!

Speaking of which, hopefully we can all work on more Portal/ Portal theme stuff rather then us sitting here debating what to call our self's.

Amen to this.

I vote we use a non-intrusive google ad so we are able to own mAL indefinitely, as per my conversation with PP.

anyone's thoughts on this? :U
I think it's something, as a community, we should consider.

I wouldn't mind there being ads here, unless they were huge great things. However with the amount of traffic this site (doesn't) get, would it be enough?

I doubt it would do anything, unless we have official clicking day, where everyone clicks on all the ads all day... But that's illegal so forget it

1 year of slow traffic should make us able to keep the domain, surely?

The domain, yeah. Wouldn't pay all the site bills but it should be enough for at least one of the domains.

Next time I'm working on the site (happens in fits and starts, as anyone whose paid attention is probably aware) I'll look into it.

When I try to open most of the folders they seem to be symlinks to the parent directories. The path gets longer but there aren't any more files.

I'm not getting this...are you using http://www.myapertureinnovations.com/filedb/olddb.php or http://www.myapertureinnovations.com/olddb.php ? The first one is the more recent, fixed version.

I'm going to have to go with myApertureInnovations. Also, the initials "mAI" has "AI" in it which delivered a neat, Portal, effect to it.

I just like it because you can say the initials like "my."

Are the mods from mAL anywhere in those files from it?

They should be. The entire old database is in those files.

Seems that the entire database was quickly labeled under maps. You can still find skin packs, models and more if you look under the correct author's name. For Example, you can find Colossal's skin packs and Hunter's Portals just looking under their names.

the old DB is organized exactly how nick gave it to me, which means the map/mod distinction was probably entirely in the SQL (which he hasn't given me yet).

Like reep said, it's all organized by author. Also it would seem you did not have to be registered on the old site to post maps, as there are several under "Anonymous." That's a detail I kind of forgot about.

LithiumHosting thought the /old content/ subdirectory was being used as filehosting for some reason, so I've taken it down momentarily to prevent the whole site from being taken down due to TOS violation. It should be back up, potentially with proper DB integration, sometime in the next week or so.

It WAS being used as filehosting. We just also happened to want to use the files in a database.
