[SP] Test Chamber G23
New version still uses contest rules, but also fixes some parts where players were using unorthodox means to complete the test.
To play it:
Copy sp_testcodeg23_1_3.bsp from the zipped folder and paste in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\portal 2\portal2\maps
Then, in Portal 2 open the console and type "map sp_testcodeg23_1_3" (open the console by pressing the "~" key)
File Name: Test Chamber G23 ver1_3.zip
File Size: 2.36 MiB
I learned a lot from this and I ust want to say thank you for inciting me to learn the Hammer level editor. I want to be a game designer so any notes/feedback will be completely and wholeheartedly appreciated.
btw with the second room, was it frustratingly ambiguous? or just challenging? I did put a target on the cieling to give a slight hint
There is no sense of speed or heights in something that big with no visible reference point: turrets behind 1 kilometer away, does it really matter since they can't see you further than 20 mts? As for the second: both the surprise attack and the dancing panels area could have featured their own room, yet they share the same - no, actually the share 20% of it while the rest is empty. One can't even enjoy the complexity, when passing through takes literally 2 secs.
Anyways, here is the recording:

I'm playing custom maps and record my first time of playing them. So the run is not perfect and may not use only intended ways, but maybe it can let you see how other people may understand the map or you could just enjoy someone playing this map for entertainment.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR RECORDING THIS! i love you. i read your youtube description and yeah, i've come to the same conclusion. BUT i am really curious, because you did almost everything in a manner i did not predict, was it fun? Cuz i have a version of the map i made a day or two after this version which limits the options the player has in completing the puzzle in the big room.
there's a faith plate in the acid pit that launches you to the button which you skipped over, but ur method of using the gel was pretty cool to see. i'm worried that method may have been tedious for u though so i can make it so the player can't do what you did there, if what u did felt tedious, but your way of doing things was very interesting and entertaining nonetheless.
