You probably mis-extracted the files. Try removing the materials in your HL2DM/CSS/whatever directory and starting over from scratch.
In hammer
Shift + E
Place an env_cubemap
Compile
Load Game
Load Map
In console type 'buildcubemaps'
that doesn't help unfortunately..
Make sure you restart your map once you build the cubemaps.
I dont think they're bullet holes, they're supposed to be remnants of the mold used to cast the concrete I believe.
mat_fulbright is set to 0.. when i set it to 1, and the lighting goes away so does the texture problem, but i want lighting..
If it only happens when you have lighting, I bet it is a normal map. Normal maps aren't rendered in Hammer since they don't need to be. Can you post a screenshot looking at the texture from the side, like at an angle so that we can see if it extrudes and/or indents?
yeah it does.. so does that mean im using the wrong textures?
No, that means that's the way the texture is. If you don't like it, you'll have to use another texture.
wha? so everyone has this problem then? i thought these were the portal textures? im using the concrete_modular textures?
msleeper isn't making any sense this time. If you're using conc_modular textures... those are the right ones. Not sure why it's doing what it's doing, though...
Well, he never posted exactly what the name of the texture he is using, so it's not like anyone can go and test it out. He also didn't post the screenshot I asked to see if it infact normal maps. But since it only happens when there is lighting, it stands to reason that whatever texture he is using does have a normal map which would be causing the "bullet holes" in the one screenshot.
hmm maybe ill just wait for the sdk update.
i have this problem even with the new sdk.. im just going to reinstall portal altogether..
What is the exact name of the texture you are using.
