Co-op CTC Capture the Cube

After doing a lot of play testing trying out the Soccer/Football idea, I decided to go back to my other project CTC (Capture the Cube). I'm no longer working on the Soccer/Football idea anymore. I think Valve already tried everything to make it fun.

Capture the Cube:

I'm making a map that is split down the middle. Each player will have half of the map to hide their cube. Also player's will be able to set up turrets to protect their cube (I'm testing to eliminate any spots that make it impossible to get near the cube without getting killed by turrets). There is a Emancipation Grid directly in the middle of the room. First person to vaporize their rival's cube using the Emancipation Grid wins. Both sides of the map are identical. So one room won't have an advantage. This is a Co-op map.

Stuff that I'm still working on...

Audience - Nothing special, just some Cores and Turrets being an audience.
The Other Half of the Map - Yeah, just the other half.

Stuff that is completely done...

Turret Maker - Press the button and you have a turret. Disables itself after 5 turrets have been spawned.
Turret Disposer - Emancipate broken turrets so you can spawn new ones.
Cube Dropper - Drops the cube. Will replace a cube that gets Emancipated.
The Middle Room - The room with the Emancipation Gird.

Why was it necessary to make a new thread about this.

Also the "capture the cube" idea has been tried already and it was boring and unfun.

I talked to some of my friends about this and they thought it was a good idea. There are also new people coming on to this site that might not of even heard of this idea. Some people might enjoy it more than others. Maybe some TF2 player will like it. Then again maybe not. Obviously you don't like it so I won't bother you about it.

Not sure what you want me to say. Valve couldn't make it fun, I genuinely doubt anyone here can do better.

Quick Update: Turret Maker is now working, player can now spawn a total of 5 turrets to protect their cube. Press the button to make turrets! If your turrets have been knocked over, throw them into the Emancipation Grid and create some more. Turret Maker counts deactivated turrets as "alive" so you have to use the Emancipation Grid to get rid of them before you can spawn anymore. Might make a Turret Disposal to get rid of turrets quicker.

I hardly think this is relevant, and I find your dissatisfaction with this topic unnerving. I don't see why you are dancing on this guys creativity! He's got an idea, he wants to build it and have some fun doing so... Others may find it interesting to follow along or to offer suggestions, and I see it as a great learning experience for him (and possibly others as well). He's creating some neat game elements that, who knows, may come in handy in other maps down the road.

Why create another thread on TWP??? Isn't this the whole point of TWP? And just because it has been tried before and didn't work out, doesn't mean that it won't be interesting or fun in the end. I've seen some pretty lame maps posted here, but I prefer to encourage people rather than slam them.

And was his "double post" removed, because I don't see it? A kindly private message that a rule was violated would have sufficed, rather than a "never do that again" type of message... Get real!

MasterLagger, great stuff! Keep it up, and know there are those watching that are interested in your progress and would love to see how things turn out.

fermat8 thank you for supporting my idea. I don't think that msleeper was slamming me, he just told me his opinion and i responded to it. As for his post about double posting, a little harsh but no big deal. It could have been worse. No hard feelings msleeper.

nice, thx, but uhm,,did you already found out how to get more players in 1 room...in console it always says 0 bots/2players, I guess that can be changed right ?
