How do I create the effect of the large chamber with fog?

Is it using a 3D skybox?

I think all the large chambers with fog are just that: large chambers with fog. I don't see the need for a 3D skybox, and it would probably just complicate things. Is there a specific effect or chamber you're trying to make it look like?

Like this? http://puu.sh/2E8P

I use env_fog_controller and a little bit of gray--darkblue colors with 100 or 300 (depends the size of your rooms) to 1000 or 2000.

Yes, like that.

I was worried that such a large box would really kill the framerates for the map. But apparently not.

Thanks.

If you use valve's environmental entities instance at the bottom of the instance folder you can use a logic_auto at the map spawn to turn on many different fog effects used in the real game!

I found this tutorial the other day...

This really helped me out for a level I'm working on...

Thank you, everyone.

SolarChronus's video tutorial was most helpful.

After watching it, I stayed up until 3 am to add an outside section to my map, Suspended.

Now it looks a lot better than just a boring room.
