Aesthetics Tutorial!

Hi! So, I was thinking, I might write a dynamic music tutorial; whenever I play a map that does it wrongly, I get kinda mad, so I thought it might be nice to do a tutorial on it, but I wasn't sure whether people would actually want it, so I thought I'd gauge your interest. Things I would include:

-List of songs from OST, listed in chronological order of appearance.
-List of components of each song.
-How to get it working, i.e., which script functions to use and when, and so on.
-When to use each song, i.e., what theme of map.

Does this sound interesting? I know I don't make it sound like much, but it would be really in-depth, so, um, yeah.

Another thing I was thinking of was an aesthetics tutorial; I've noticed that some people, for example, ebola in Patent Pending, to name a great, take special care of little details like not having the lights on in pre-hub observation rooms, and little details like this make the map, however not enough people do this sort of thing, and so I was thinking of creating a tutorial on the components of each aesthetic theme in the game. Things I would include:

-List of chronologically sorted maps themes
-Lighting tips (mood, temperature, source, et cetera)
-Puzzle elements (cube and button based testing is based in the early, destroyed maps, excursion funnels only show up in Wheatley chambers, et cetera)
-Little details (as above, with the observations rooms, and also things like having security cameras be broken in pre-hub maps)
-Mini-tutorials on how to actually construct certain features, i.e., skybox lighting, Wheatley vistas, et cetera.

So, would you all be interested? Is there anything I can add? Don't feel bad about shooting this down, I'm not committed to anything yet. ave a nice day!

This would be awesome. I am still a beginner at mapping and have a lot of things to learn. Most of which come within what you have mentioned.

I would look forward to seeing it.

These tutorials are desperately needed by just about everybody. Even veteran mappers could use a list of what to expect and where.

Good luck with it!

It'd be very useful. And i'm extremely interested in learning how to do Wheatley vistas.

Please, yes! I am working on a decayed themed map right now, and there are so many little details I'm unsure of. A tutorial like this would be extremely helpful.

One suggestion: I had to try out each observation room instance until I found the destroyed ones, since the names don't actually say destroyed. I think I found that the ones with "off" in the name are the right ones. If your tutorial included a list of instances which are useful in various themes, it would be really helpful.

Oh God yes these are worth writing. It's so often hard to find general asthetics/environmental info about different areas of Portal 2, tutorials would be greatly appreciated. You can certainly post them here but also make sure you toss them up on the VDC.

Well, seeing as feedback has been so positive, I'll start working today. I think I'll start with the dynamic music tutorial, simply because it sounds the easiest.

Yea aesthetics are important. I work on them a lot near the end of my maps. Making things look, sound, and feel nice.

Soon, don't worry, dear. It's nearly done, I'm just compiling the lists of useful textures for each theme.

Aaaaaand we're live! I did the aesthetics tutorial first because it was easiest. All I have to add now is the picture for the wall tutorial, the list of observation room instances and, uh... a whole section. I ran out of motivation, m'kay? Don't judge me! Anyway, it's a bit disjointed right now, so any critique is very much welcome.
