How to make this Cube Throw ?
At the 20-sec mark of this video is a mighty throw.
I tried numerous times but always am about a foot too low.
I tried spin while throwing upward . . . I tried jumping just before . . . I tried jumping and throwing at the same time . . all to no avail. What am I doing wrong ?
I have also seen guys throw a cube 10 feet forward to bridge a gap or to go through kill beams and onto a button in an adjoining room - and I also cannot make those throws.
Can I get the method to do this from someone ? Thanks

Xdiesp is probably a master of throwing cubes by now. I suggest stacking the cubes to get higher and then place it on the platform.
I practiced in an empty room and the cube just doesn't go far and it doesn't go high.
I think I just do not know the trick yet . . .
xdiesp, can you chime in about whether or not this works as well in P2?
Hey - wait a minute . . . I could have stood on the other cube for an added 2 feet of height ! !
(
still reallllyyyy impressive! (more so really, considering it was done on a shiver.... console!)
The only thing i don't like is that he uses portal-glitches in to pull off some of the tricks. The ones he doesn't do this with are still really impressive... but i think the whole thing that makes "cube throws" amazing is when they are done within the confines of the "rules." Boosting yourself with portal glitches doesn't count imo.
But somebody tell me HOW ????????????
I tried the Olypic Hammer throw - to no avail.
I even tried the old "double-windup" that they use (well - they use quadruple windups - hehe).
Again to no avail and you need a super wide Mouse Pad.
C'mon guys . . . http://www.InfoCellar.com/temp/DrEvil.wav !!!
And then practice some more.
They train for 10 hours a day, for years at a time.
In five years, if you practice like that, I guarantee you will be able to make any of those throws.
Skip to 4:20 for something that's truly incredible.
I had no idea this was possible, but propulsion gel dramatically increases the speed of whatever object you're throwing even if it's not in the direction you are going. (in this case, straight up)

The toss is at 8:25. He actually achieves it twice. Quite impressive indeed!
If a cube can be "easily" thrown to bypass the intended solution, I have to make it harder or nearly impossible.
This is evident in my latest map, sp_interception. I designed it so that even if players can throw cubes like Olympic athletes, they still have to solve the puzzle like every ordinary human being.

You double-posted, but all the same:

Think of the hammer throw at the olympics: turn around very fast, press the "use" button when you want the hammer to leave your hands. This game has a physics engine, so it will work somewhat realistically. To make the throw even further, jump as you press the button.
Took like 5 minutes to learn this.
I can understand the physics behind it as well.
