But if this ever does come to fruition, there would be a vastly wider community of mappers (some of whom may have some very good ideas), which would in turn likely mean a vastly wider user base for sites like this one. It also means that custom map downloads and access could happen right in the Portal 2 main menu, even if it is just the maps made with the simpler/less versatile level editor. And that in turn spells custom maps for 360 and PS3 users. My guess is that the level editor, if Valve decides to run with the idea, will come with the second DLC, whenever that happens. There was some mention about the second DLC allowing custom maps on consoles.
Simplified Level Editor?

Apparently, there was a recent update to The Final Hours of Portal 2 that added a chapter about the Peer Review DLC and a brief mention of some of Valve's future plans for Portal 2. Something interesting that it mentioned was the possibility of a simplified level editor for the game. Now that I know how to use it fairly well, I'm content with using Hammer. And needless to say, this new level editor would be a lot less versatile than Hammer.

This is the 3rd Topic I've seen relating to the level editor.
I'd like a simpler and similar level editor to hammer.

Oh, crap. I didn't search before posting. Well, here's the other one that is not dead yet, unlike the first one that apparently is. So I guess that means a mod can kill this one.

The scary thing is that it's no where near April First.
