This was unique in that the puzzle itself is not even really a puzzle - just a gathering of a couple items. The Orange gel was a Red Herring and I tried in vain to quick-slide and fling up to the area with the laser cube. Finally I just bounced in the main room and shot a portal to fling to that area.
I too wish you could get through those squares with metal braces by crouching, because I wanted to be able to explore those areas. My only recommendation would be to put a couple of dead guys in some of the secret areas to shock the heck out of the Players. Distracted turns into Nightmare on Elm Street. Hehehe
