hammer loading one map for over 2 hours, help?
As with other, more complex maps made by valve, they load really fast. this problem started just today. I had not compiled before shutting down.
please, if anyone can help, do so. I have worked long and hard on it and would not want it to be wasted.
I have attached the map if it is needed for reference:
Future note to self: Don't load something that someone said is broken while you're working on stuff lol
What's the last thing you did before this started happening?

Maybe he edited the vmf in notepad. Burned and destroyed something from there.

Indeed. It was corrupt, at the end of the file it just said NULNULNULNUL... and so on.
Everything you did after putting in some vactube models is gone.

but then how was I able to open it up and edit it before it started the 5% thing? also, I think you meant before putting in some vactube models, because I made the glados chamber after the vactubes.
and why is the brushwork still there?
edit: its not completely gone, because I can still play through the old version of few main rooms i was developing, except without the awesome new stuff I added recently. I can attach the BSP if anyone wants to take a look at its former (unfinished) glory.
so, theres absolutely no way to get my work back?

Also, you could decompile your .bsp file to get the source back from there.
edit: about the autosaves, I can't find them, where are they?
edit2: I sucessfully managed to recover my map using the vmx!!!!
the new changes I made were saved in the almost empty one and copied in!
@CaretCaret and Robdon Thank you so much!

Yeah, I've noticed that too. Talk about fowl-play when others get credit for chickenmobile's ideas.
