I didn't really get into computer games too much, so consoles were my main draw. And on top of that, my family didn't exactly have a lot of money so I didn't get a lot of new games. That said...

Genesis: Sonic 1 thru Sonic 3 & Knuckles. Slimeworld. Vectorman. Earthworm Jim. Ecco 1 and 2.

SNES: Mario World, Yoshi's Island. F-Zero, Uniracers.

Computer: Doom, Jedi Knight 2, Quake 2, and by leaps and bounds Battlezone. Yeah it's not that old in the grand scheme of things, but it deffinatly went undernoticed and was amazing in almost every aspect.

Two words: Oregon Trail.

Oregon trail.... fantastic. Computer class in elementary school = oregon trail.

Anybody play Kyrandia? I remember liking that game. It was a point and click fantasy type of game. Much like the later Kings Quests, which I realize most of you didn't like.

I also had fun with the Dr. Brain series, but the puzzles are probably too easy now that I'm not 10.

NES: Obviously zelda, double dragon... and I think one of my favorites was The Guardian Legend, which was a walk around and shoot things typea game, with "levels" where you turned into a plane and played a top-scrolling flying shooter.

SNES: Bomberman (also on nes, and other places... I played it on SNES), Tetris Attack

I grew up with the lucasarts point and click games, which i thought were amazing.

I also grew up with duke nukem, command keen, bios menace, monster bash and worms, to name a few. (all not quite as old as nes etc.) All of these are avialable freeware now. at least most are with a bit of googling.
