Fortunately I played the fixed version. I think the video options were suffiecient. Moreover, I haven't seen a game that would allow me to run it on a particular monitor, in the game itself!
Yea, some of the stuff they patched in was ok, other stuff was awful tho. Like the "higher res" texture option just puts a shitty grain overlay on all your textures, but DESTROYS the performance (my beast of a machine was only getting like 40 FPS).
But still, that was MONTHS after release. I was very excited for that game and pre-ordered it. And it was a trash PC release.

Update
Hm, interesting. I've heard about Gabe Newell being disappointed in Windows 8, but if Valve is going to work on PC Hardware, I'd except some interesting stuff coming from them.
but that could be true. And that also means more years of waiting.

Jesus christ you have a serious boner for Valve getting into the console market, don't you.
You could say that. Since VALVe is the only company not restricted by time constraints or profit making(Of course they have plans for profit making but they do not compromise consumer usage as others do). And to say that nobody has beaten the likes of Half Life 2 till now makes VALVe the only company to build a console right because they know how to make a game.
btw what i meant by "that means more years of waiting" was more years of waiting for the next half-life.
