I'm excited. I still need to finish my Portal 2 map, but I think I'm going to shelve my 2nd map idea (it's completely mental anyway) to slam out a cool MP map for CS... I've always been more interested in multiplayer level design anyway

Haha, I know. It's funny that we were JUST talking about this a couple of days ago... I didn't think the SDK would be out until post-release, and today this gets announced... it's like Gabe is reading my steam messages O_O

FPS mapping is... easier than portal, honestly. You don't have to know how to script elements necessarily, and just having intimate knowledge on how the game works (read: playing a LOT) will give you a reasonable idea of what works and what doesn't in a map.

But yes, finish stories first! I want to play it!

No, he sent an e-mail to those guys after stating that, saying it would be out in the beta this week... it's all in the first link i posted.

That said, the tools aren't out yet, so I guess "this week" is Valve time for "3 months after release anyway"

As of now, access to the csgo beta sdk seems to have been restricted to only three people while valve works out the kinks in it. Hopefully they will add more people to it soon.
