Yeah, I took a look at it also. Looks like you score points for picking it up. Still haven't tested it yet, but if it works, this could be used for a new competition in Co-op. Also, I think that there would be something to add to maps for Challenge Mode to work.
You can have a prop_scaled_cube in hammer by editing the fgd script. They also have a prop_scalable
Nvm: Sixense has their own fgd
Also this guy made a paint gun without mods or scripts, just hotkeys

@Spongy; yea, got all gels bound too, that technique has been known for months
Finally there's also the reflecto gel; but it horrible as a test element and valve wasn't really happy when they found out we knew
since they intended it to be removed because it wasn't a good idea.

Mot's levels use a hacked-together paintgun that involves a func_tank that follows the player and a paint sprayer entity.
