I started building a map the minute the editor came out. I'm happy to release a puzzle mechanic I haven't seen a lot.

Step by Step
A logical thinking puzzle, split up into several little rooms.
Bring the laser to the end and always keep the Aperture Pedestal Button within reach.

Difficulty is a bit tougher than original test chambers.

A not-so-simple chamber!
And yes, the puzzle can be solved in a not-messy way very quickly, in 30 seconds.
The conversion gel "spamming" is worthless. Try to think first!

Update 1.1: timed conversion gel flow to avoid spam and make the puzzle more tricky.

As predicted; pointless thread is pointless. Everyone whoring their test and not looking at anyone else's. Utter chaos.

I actually downloaded a couple that looked particularly interresting. Haven't tried them yet because I'm at school.

Stuff in screenshots that I turn down almost immediatly are obvious trying-out-editor maps, maps with excessively long walking, maps that look completely chaotic, maps with bad description, and stuff like that.

Hey guys

I hope you like this one.
It's main aim is to emphasize optimalization, in that, all it is comprised of is a narrow corridor and the floor is almost entirely un-usuable

Title: Wet Cubes

Cubes are falling continuosly into the toxic water. Help them so they can help you. A beam+buttons test. My first (with the easy map editor).

Right, here's the end result of about 4 hours of mucking around and adding stuff to what was originally supposed to be quite a simple puzzle:

There are definitely some quite severe limitations to the new editor, but then again there's no way I'd be able to pump out such a complex map using Hammer in that amount of time. I'm rather chuffed with the result, to be honest...

Been off Portal mapping for a while, attempting to start back up with this new editor. I plan on modifying the maps in Hammer later to make them more visually interesting (themes!), but for now I'm testing out making some content.

A short, easy map involving gel, deadly lasers, turrets, buttons, excursion funnels, faith plates, and a Companion Cube.

Quite happy with this map, my first published one with gels and faith plates, along with a couple other bits!

It was fun, i would make the floor under the filzzlers portal proof though, I grabbed the cube, bumped the first flizzler, put it on the button, bumped the second, tunnel'd/reportal'd (uses the same glitch to diffrent effect btw) to the cube on the button, and finished the rest. You might just call this an unintended solution.

Thanks for that comment, I updated the map earlier today and fixed what you described.

I just finished my project.

RIGOROUS

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/f ... d=68556592

A highly cognitive puzzle where finding the way out isn't as easy as it looks. I specifically designed the chamber so that the skill involved was low but still challenges the person to figure out the correct path.

Warning: not for the faint of heart. It will challenge your patience.

Hey everyone, here's my first creation with the new level editor.
I'm working on a 3 part map pack, where I'll utilize each object in different parts.

Here's the link to the first map pack - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/f ... d=68590875

Let me know what you think of it, eagerly awaiting feedback.

I kept the difficulty on a small scale, the only catch is, you need to observe the environment properly and see the placements.

Cheers and have fun designing

I think two boards would work better instead of this thread to be honest. Like this:

  1. Community Maps
  2. Perpetual Testing Initiative

That's just me thinking about better execution.

After thinking about it, I think that each member should create one thread for their creations in that board suggestion thing I was talking about earlier. If the member creates more threads, either a moderator should delete the extra thread or a forum extension for phpBB of some kind should reject a new thread if the user has already created a thread in that board.

Well, just fixed up my puzzle, got rid of an exploit that allowed you to skip the entire redirection puzzle. Also added a cube-button to give the player an idea of where the cube is supposed to end up at some point. And a death fizzler that forces the player to use 2 portals, keeping them from getting out of a place they aren't suppposed to be able to, later on. I don't know if edits-published auto-update for players, but since only 3 people have played it, it's not a big deal...

I also got rid of the silly "jump and shoot portal from atop button" mistake I kept forgetting about.

Hi new to this forum and just started playing with the map editor. Not very good at it yet but I created a level and it would be awesome if someone would play it and gave me some feedback. I just want to know if it was too easy/hard/boring or whatever.. Or just that it works. Thanks heaps!
