Looks like we're starting a CS:GO mapping site soon.

It just occurred to me; is there really any demand for a CS:GO mapping community? Competitive games like CS tend to thrive on a small but popular selection of maps (de_dust2, cs_office, etc). Portal's mapping community exists because custom maps are a key part of the game's replayability. CS:GO is fundamentally different in that respect.

Well, GO has Arms Race now, which is introducing all-new, smaller, rush-style maps... which I'm very, very excited to try a couple of ideas for.
And there's a 'casual' mode also, which, if that catches on, lord knows they're going to want plenty of new maps to play on.
Valve let us loose on the SDK early, I say we jam a mapping community down their throats

I know drp (Runs TF2maps.net) owns csgomaps.net or some similar domain and has had it since December but has no funds to run it. There are also lots of users on TF2Maps who are dying for a dedicated CSGO site to use.

The GunGame mod, which I suspect will be the first mod to be made (if it hasn't already been made) relies almost solely on custom maps.

As someone who used to play CS competitively, this is only really true for the pub community of Counter-Strike. Actual competitions and tournaments like to change it up with new maps all the time.

Tell him to message me if 1.) he wants to sell/give me the domain and 2.) if he wants to promote our new site over there.

We'll just take you apart... new set of organs, spit shine on the old ones... and we're taking out tumors. Don't worry... we know how to put a man back together. Frankly, you ought to be paying us!
