TWP is proud to present Thinking With Portholes, a new tumblog for all of the dumb comments on Workshop and TWP maps. We're working on populating it with some base content so it might be a little premature to share it, but basically the idea is: submit screenshots of ignorant, dumb, or hilarious comments from the Workshop or TWP Download Database. We can definitely use submissions, so go ahead and send us screenshots and snarky comments about dumb shit on the Workshop.

As a side note, anyone who would be interested in making us a custom theme, let me know!

What's the stuff with the blue and orange push/pull streams? Is that an Excursion Funnel? At first I thought of the Gravity Gun.

Assuming the Funnels are on opposite sides of each other, you'd assume someone knew that they should both be blue, if you want to be neutral...

Or am I thinking of the wrong thing?

Well, if by "theme" you mean logo or something, how about this for a rough draft:

portholesAnimate.gif

I realize that it's rather bland, but my idea for a theme was based on the comic made by El Farmerino. Maybe have hand-drawn stuff in it? I don't know, I'm just throwing ideas out there.

Ha, good to see something came out of that comic... I ended up spending a lot longer away from home than intended and just got back today; haven't had a chance to even attempt making it into an in-game poster or anything. If I get a free moment I'll give it a go, but I can't really promise anything as I have a crapload of things to do.

MasterLagger - Are you familiar with the Dunning-Kruger effect?

If I was experiencing the Dunning-Kruger effect, I wouldn't have acknowledged that the picture I made was a bland rough draft in the first place. But hey, anyone that didn't read what I typed would have made that mistake.

"I heard if you type "noclip" you can also bypass the entire puzzle. The mapper should be ashamed of themselves."

That wasn't noclip, it was the Excursion Funnel glitch.
Although I still find the guy pretty stupid for saying "Another broken map from Mevious". The map isn't broken, YOU broke it.

The point of that comment is that if you're using that glitch you may as well be noclipping to the exit...

Anyone know what map the funnels comments are about?

Is there? One of the Mevious maps, then?

EDIT: Just to be clear, I'm talking about the 'blue overpowering the orange' comments here...

Oh, no clue then. Thought you meant the 'noclipping' one.

I do know which of Mevious' maps is that one, it's PUSH... and in Mevious' defense, I did like that map a lot because after 30 good minutes I deducted that there couldn't be another way around to enter into the final room carrying the blue funnel than to actually entering while being funnelled by the blue funnel... and that was a great aha-moment. The deductive thinking is there, if those ppl would have figure out the solution, they would not say that about "another broken map by Mevious" (for God's sake!)

I can't recall the map, but surely if you connect a blue and an orange funnel with portals they'll both be acting in the same direction, right? Which I assumed was the point of those comments being on this blog...

You're right (editted my post above...). They both "join" forces in the same direction: the blue goes from the prop_tractor towards the portal, while the orange goes from the portal towards the prop_tractor. But still, at first you think it's a strange solution... although it's completely licit.
