Which is better in your opinion?

Portal 1 took the gaming industry by surprise. Portal 2 didn't have that surprise, but it was a worthy sequel.

A friend of mine argued that the simplicity and purity of Portal 1 gave it an existential feel as a timeless concept. Another friend of mine said that Portal 2 due to its content and characters is better as it expanded on Portal 1 so much.

Portal 1 is superior as a work of art and as a concept
Portal 2 is superior from the perspective of gameplay

I may be in a minority, but when I first played Portal 1, I liked it, but I didn't love it. Portal 2 is when I fell in love with it.

I LOVED Portal... it was so good that I simply quit playiong other games (since I met it in 2009)

I LOVE Portal2, maybe in a different way, but with the same intensity.

I think this feelings won't ever disappear with time...

And I COULDN'T ever compare both! BOTH are my favourite game! Sorry but I don't see the point of this topic.

From a player's perspective, I prefer portal 2 because they fixed the engine around so portals weren't nearly as buggy. I also hated energy pellets because of the timing elements.
From a speedrunner perspective, I liked portal 1 more. It was full of half-life glitches and new OOB glitches. Plus abh, which is always good. But my player side overpowers my speedrunner side.

From a pure experience; Portal is a lot more well-rounded.
Everything in that game is purposeful and meaningful.

Portal 2 does a much better job in progressive storytelling though.. but neither still belong in the HL universe correctly.

It isn't in the same storyline anyway.
