Here's my challenge mode solution.
Doubt it's legit, but I did the waterbottle rescue side quest, so I'm a hero either way.
Hahahaha... Awesome Sick!!
All that flinging stuff is really cool!
I get the feeling you were the kid in school . . . cuttin' classes, smokin' weed, and acing the SAT. I only did the first two - LOL
I must ask Farmerino (this is for the challenge version) - does the intended solution involve angling the laser ?
That's a small ask which would save me a lot of time. You see, I am trying all sorts of angles including aiming the laser from room 2 into room 4 and lighting the catcher, even though so far I see no benefit from it.
The lab is backed up - I got a desktop that needs a new SSD, a notebook with a virus and another notebook crippled with too many TSRs loading. I need the dough - but this thing takes precedence !!

Sicklebrick - are you ever gonna do something the intended way ?...
Lol, maybe. Just as long as nobody thinks it's malicious. Probably 90% of the time it's accidental, laziness or a fascination about how stuff's put together; I quite like finding them in my own maps too
But yeah, I was toying with angled lasers too for the relay in the fourth room for example with a floor portal from the top area... wondering if that's the proper route.
The good news is that all of the whiteness is back; in fact, if I'd made this edit earlier I could have saved myself a fair bit of work on putting in that little Ratman den. Ah, well. And sicklebrick's solution is still possible, because that shit's awesome.
Will need to make another adjustment except Steam's decided it needs to re-download Portal 2 for some reason, just when I've only got two hours before I go away for a few days....
Just imagine that lift and button are the same level as the floor for now. I'll fix it on Saturday. Sorry about that.
Either way, this has been my favourite map in months
... almost exactly what I had in mind!

so don't we already know the right one?
In that case, here's some more wrongness.
If an aim of the challenge version is to limit the options available to the player, then this is a list of other things that are not required to complete the map:
1. The cube re-spawn button.
2. Two of the laser catchers.
3. The piston platform.
4a. Entering two of the four rooms in the map.
4b. Flings.
One of the options 4a/b is still required to complete the map, so naturally I chose the ninja one (I'd give sicklebrick credit, but that was one of the first things I tried when I opened the map, wheee!).
The video includes a brief detour which hints at the non-ninja alternate solution.
Alternate Solution
@Calmly Frenetic - many thanks for the feedback: it's been really useful. I spent a hell of a lot of time last night tinkering with the map, and I think I've got a good solution to some of the problems you mentioned. Unfortunately, Portal 2 is in the middle of another 6.6 GB download as I write (if anyone has a good idea why that might be happening, I'd love to hear it) so it's going to be a while before I can update.
In truth, it would be quite easy to get rid of all these unintended solutions with fixes like the one Roger suggested, though I'd much rather find a way that doesn't really impact too much on the aesthetics of the chamber or remove thinking options for the player. Besides, I'm totally cool with solutions like Calmly Frenetic's and the one in sicklebrick's original vid, as they take a lot of skill to execute and won't really be found by a lot of players at all. sicklebrick's solutions which involve precise laser placement where you can't see the receiver do bother me, though, as someone could easily find that, assume it to be the intended solution and rightfully have a negative opinion of the map.
Anyway, hopefully get a new version out sometime today....
EDIT: Alright, update done. I think that takes care of most of the issues, while leaving the super-ninja-jumpy solution intact.
I love how you can just throw that bastard cube to the dogs and the puzzle is all reset and good to go again! Anyway, here's version 5. It doesn't seem right yet, but I felt like I was making progress.
Side Quest: Free the cube.

you're gonna kick yourself when you find out what El named the bsp file.(That's if he doesn't kick you first.
)
Note to El about the updated version : when I started playing, the cube landed in the perfect position to solve the first part of the puzzle. Don't make it too easy!
Calmly Frenetic - ha, I wondered if anyone was gonna get a hint from looking at the .bsp title - have been meaning to change it, but I always initially label them with something relating to the solution so I can keep track of which is which.
As for your note: Yeah, I realise that the new design makes the first part easier (though that sounds like a lucky bounce!), but at least it gets rid of a lot of messy solutions for the whole thing. Besides, the map is intended to be for people who've already played the non-challenge version, so they should know how to do that part anyway.

Apparently, the map has been updated since I did this.
