Hi,

for some reasons I can't run VIS anymore while compiling my map. Also, all top water textures are gone and one can look through it. It's like a mirror on drugs.

Regards,

When you scroll up a bit, you probably find another error message saying "entity xy leaked". Go to Map, Load Pointfile. When it asks if you want to use the standard one, say yes. There should be a red line drawn in your map now - follow that line and you should find a hole between the void and your map that you need to close.

The water top thing is because VVIS wasn't run. I don't know why it's the responsibility of VVIS to make the water tops work, but it is.

I attached the error message.
I also don't understand where I should connect that red line to. It kinda disappears in between the levels walls.

That's probably one of the moss_corner models there? I don't know what's wrong with it, but it leaked for me as well when the corner behind it was the only thing seperating it from the void.

It's because of where the model's origin is. Try rotating it, find the point it's moving around.

The two objects in the corner were some edge-stoned from foliage. I deleted them, but the problem still persists.

Edit:
@FelixGriffin; How can I find this origin?

The only way I know of is to rotate it, as I said above. The origin acts as the center of rotation.

go to your auto visgroups.
Disable everything, enable the world geometry and see if there's a hole in the wall where it's leaking; fill it up. Before compiling re-enable everything again! And see if the thing is coming up again.

I fixed the problem together with the wiki link below. I found that one of my plants was somehow leaking into the void and opened a hole into the level too.
Anyways, thank you all very much for trying to help!

Sorry to bring back a solved thread, but I have a similar problem. In my map I am working on, I have been getting a leak coming from a point very close to the origin of the map, saying filter activator class leaked. The only filter activator class I have is in an instance well contained inside my map, I've tried finding the leak, copying the map to a new file, boxing the area, boxing the entire map, made sure radius culling was off, checked for entity bound walls, etc, no dice, so I am in need of some dire help. I am hoping this is just a dumb mistake and not something huge, but I hope someone knows what this is.

Thank you for your time

Camben, post the map so one of us try to compile. I've seen that sometimes some other can compile a map that the creator can't. Also some other can check your leak issue.

Sometimes maps just stuff up. Copy and paste your map into a new file - sometimes that works.

I already tried that, it still didn't even work, the leak is still coming from the origin.

Ok, I get to it after school.
(Btw it has a very strange style, i tried to make it as un aperturish as possible while still keeping the walls, and it is a super heavy WIP. Also, should I post the instances I used?)

If they're not default ones: yes.

ok, its here. the error messages and white textures are there because they are custom and dont play a big role other than aesthetics. again, heavy WIP.

EDIT2: ok, something weird happened and it suddenly started working again after updating portal 2.... so, problem has been solved, i guess. well, thats good, and thank you guys for the responses still.

I can compile the map just fine. No leaks.

However I can see a lot of things that should be func_detail that are not. It will compile VVIS much faster if you do.
