[EXP] Test Subject #13
So everyone knows I've sorta put this a little bit on hold whilst i do some TF2 mapping, but I intend to get back into it shortly. The current map I'm working on is chamber 16, only a few left!
I'm now thinking that I'd like to recruit a 'texturer' so that once I've got everything playing nicely and I've done all 20 maps I'll send them to the other texturers we'll get them textured in half the time.
I'm of course going for the original portal theme so anyone who is clued up about the loctions of each texture in the official game, sing up now
(or in a few months...)
. Be the first decent portal mod to be made.
I wont mind testing if the ground is thin on that area lol (which i doubt it is).
Just curious, will all the maps be like hard, or will they increase in difficulty?
If you need any more testers at any point, give me a shout I'd love to help out
What I really would like is for someone to make me a male character model. pretty please
By the way, it isn't that hard to texture portal maps. They got the adventage of being perfectly square and aligned. It does take some time however

Sorry dude, I don't have any 3D-model software, they're terribly expansive...
Assuming you meant expensive, you can get the XSI mod tool for free, i think
in other news:
Alas! I do not have a clue how to do this 'mod' thing, I've created a mod using the button on the SDK but now I don't know how to do anything with it. :S
Just to let you know, you know the original testie was male?

No idea why they changed it to a female.

yeah I know, I wanted that guy, but I doubt it will ever be released, its probably ultra low res or something
Hmm, maybe check the models portal came with. Might be hidden in there still
and to learn how to do it.

to have the character model different
No need to do a mod for that.
You just have to embed a new player model in each of your maps.

Freeze-framing on the video (the high res version, not the Youtube version) the test subject model just looks like one of the male npc models from HL2, with an orange jumpsuit and heel-springs. Whereas the final version supposedly models the test subject after an actual actress (making it more distinct than just reusing a face from HL2).
