You'll be waiting a while before anything like that is needed, I would have a website but I'd need screenshots and stuff otherwise it would be a bit lame. And to have screenshot I need maps that aren't still in the dev textures.

So everyone knows I've sorta put this a little bit on hold whilst i do some TF2 mapping, but I intend to get back into it shortly. The current map I'm working on is chamber 16, only a few left!

I'm now thinking that I'd like to recruit a 'texturer' so that once I've got everything playing nicely and I've done all 20 maps I'll send them to the other texturers we'll get them textured in half the time.
I'm of course going for the original portal theme so anyone who is clued up about the loctions of each texture in the official game, sing up now (or in a few months...)

Its nice that you are doing this . Be the first decent portal mod to be made.

I wont mind testing if the ground is thin on that area lol (which i doubt it is).

If you really needed me to do so, I can find exploits/glitches in the map (its basically what im good at with portal). It'd probably useful for optimisation seeing as though for Mr Cows cc map I passed in rouchly a minute and a half because lots of areas could be skipped. I know lots of people have asked you to test, just thought I could be of some help.

Loving the idea, real structure and sounds like a great portal map pack.

Just curious, will all the maps be like hard, or will they increase in difficulty?

If you need any more testers at any point, give me a shout I'd love to help out

Yeah no shortage of testers as I'm pretty sure 90%+ of the users here would be happy to test and find bugs and whatnot.
What I really would like is for someone to make me a male character model. pretty please

Sorry dude, I don't have any 3D-model software, they're terribly expansive. But I might be capable of helping you with texturing your chambers, if you tell me which parts must be concrete, which metal blocks and which just plain metal.

By the way, it isn't that hard to texture portal maps. They got the adventage of being perfectly square and aligned. It does take some time however

Assuming you meant expensive, you can get the XSI mod tool for free, i think

XSI sucks the big one though. If you do some clever searching, you can acquire a copy of 3D Studio Max for $free.

I take it you want the model to be aperture style. (Like the female, but male version) right? I'll try to pull a few strings see what I can do. This second I cant because I'm at home and I'm not on my pc with my modeling stuff.

Yeah, rugged, probably unshaven male wearing an orange aperture jumpsuit with the leg mod things like chell has. If you are interested in doing this I'd love to have you on board

in other news:
Alas! I do not have a clue how to do this 'mod' thing, I've created a mod using the button on the SDK but now I don't know how to do anything with it. :S

What do you hope to gain by making it a mod?

To not have it in the bonus maps menu, to have the character model different
and to learn how to do it.

No need to do a mod for that.
You just have to embed a new player model in each of your maps.

No idea why they changed it to a female.

Freeze-framing on the video (the high res version, not the Youtube version) the test subject model just looks like one of the male npc models from HL2, with an orange jumpsuit and heel-springs. Whereas the final version supposedly models the test subject after an actual actress (making it more distinct than just reusing a face from HL2).
