You have to do a bit more work to give it the proper particles and color, but it still works. They added the Reflection property but didn't take away any of the Adhesion stuff (because there wasn't much of that left anyway).

The reflective/sticky gel now shares the conversion gel's splat effect, and the propulsion gel's "vomit" effect. It was a wonderful blank gel to play with, and I used it in BP2 as electric gel. It also lags the map a bit; I was working on a map to see if even with its flaws, it could still be used.

Then again, Valve may just break it again, so what's the point? :notwant:

Reepblue! You're back! How's PUNT coming?

And that's very true. But you can still get some blank gels to play around with. Make sprayers for buffer-overflow types, set them to Draw Only so they don't use undefined effects, then turn on dev and look in the console for the names of the missing effects. If they're unprintable you can still copy and paste them.

Reepblue! I didn't know you had an account here! I'm new here I really like your work enjoyed blue portals allot. How did you get to the coding of the gel to make the electric gel though?

Sorry to disappoint you, but you really can't get to the coding of the gels. AFAIK this was all done in Hammer.

How would players get to it? The game isn't open source, so no matter where they "put" it you can't change it.

Because you can't pack custom particles and this is an old thread.

I know how Omni built this, and could possibly make a map with it. The trick is that it's REALLY hard to map with it, since the floor and walls need to be covered with what I call an "adhesion grid."

If you want, I'll see about making and uploading a VMF of this for people to play with.

 Just a quick question how did you figure out what omni did? did you just figure it out or did he or anyone else tell you?

A long time ago I was talking to someone, I think it was Lpfreaky, about Omni's gels. She said that it was a really hard system to extend and required a lot of work in each map. I could think of an easy-ish way to make the gel if I were willing to force mappers to do that, and I assume Omni came to the same conclusion.
